Wonderful Travels and Pix
Many thanks for the great photos and the map of your trips. We've never been to Newfoundland or Labrador and, sadly, are now too old to make that journey. But we've covered thousands of miles across Canada and the US. Some day you'll have to head west to explore the Rocky Mountains, and north to travel the Yukon Highway. Life is too short to see it all, but keep travelling as long as you can. - Ted

Thank you Ted,You should definitely tour Newfoundland if you get a chance Its a very Unique place. I've been to the Canadian Rockies. All the Glacial lakes and the Mountain's make it definitely the most beautiful place in North America. I am planning a trip to Tuktoyaktuk this winter. I hope it works out.
Cabot Trail
4RZ: I went back over your first blog and noticed the photo on the Cabot Trail. I toured the Trail twice, with 2 different wives (the second wife was the keeper!) and it is an amazingly beautiful area. Indeed, we went all over Cape Breton, and I also went up there several times on business. I don't know if you are aware, but the recent storm hit Cape Breton very hard, with many roads washed out and some villages now isolated. It will be quite awhile before travel returns to normal. Very sad indeed! - Ted

I just checked out Tuktoyaktuk on the web and you have to be crazy! While in the Canadian Army I was was stationed in the sub Arctic in the '50s. Part of the job was flying supply missions to places like that, and there is no way you'd ever get me back there. If you really want to drive north, go to the Yukon and take the road north from Dawson City to Inuvik. - Cheers, Ted

Yes, I heard about the storm but was not aware it caused so much damage.
haha I've been to Deadhorse,AK before in March and the temp was around -30F. I have another T4R member interested to make the trip so hopefully with multiple vehicles's it will be ok. I think March is the best time to do it since the roads are well snow packed and no danger or windshield damage or bugs. Yes will ge taking the Dempster Highway to Inuvik and Ice road from there to Tuk.

Absolutely. Always welcome to stop by for a place to stay for the night, actually we are conveniently about 10 mins off the main freeway(10 mins from the Yota dealership as well) or if you just want me to drool over your truck and convince my wife to get a 5th gen?

Great pic's man and quantifies exactly what the 4Runner was built for. Seeing every corner of this big blue marble we are all bouncing around on.

Well, I have it straight now. I finally checked my map of Alaska, the Yukon, and part of the Northwest Territories and figured out why I thought Tuktoyaktuk was a strange place to try to visit. There is no such place on my map. Instead, it is called 'Mackenzie', named after the famous explorer, and you do take the highway through Inuvik to get there. Mystery solved, and it sounds like a great adventure. - Ted

Some amazing photos, and it looks like you've had some great journey's too! Thanks for sharing.
It looks like you take them off sometimes (for rough roads), but is there a reason why you're using running boards that hang so low? If you need a step seems like there are other options that would offer better clearance, or even rock sliders that are more "step-like" could be a good idea too. It would easier than taking them off since you could just "set and forget".

haha thank you, My grand mother is 75 years old and my wife was pregnant at that time. I will invest in some slider's in future but i have to keep switching them when my grandmother is in town

Ah makes complete sense now. I've been worried you might get into trouble on some trails.
