My 5 Day Trip to Katemcy Rocks - Mason, TX

I recently took a trip to K2 for the 10th annual Lone Star Land Cruiser RoundUp. I left on March 13th and arrived at the park at about 9pm. A buddy of mine from the club we're in (Razorback Land Cruisers) decided to trailer mine and his 40 Series LC down there which was a huge relief. I wasn't looking forward to the drive. On the next day a couple more friends from the club came down. They were in his 60 Series LC.

Once we got there we set up camp, which I stayed in my truck all 4 nights. The entire week/weekend we had amazing weather. Mid 80's during the day and mid 50's during the night. Actually had a couple 90's at one point. It was pretty windy during the day though, so dust was a pain in the ass. I had an amazing time though. I got to meet Marlin from Marlin Crawler and watch his truck crawl. I convoyed with the Iron Pig OffRoad gang and ended up doing some hardcore trails (still waiting on the pics from them). Got to watch 2 awesome bands. I went on a 60 mile trip through the winding back roads of Texas hillsides and ranches. Lastly, I got to witness what it would look like if I were driving on Mars! You'll understand when you see the pics. If you ever wheel around granite, be sure to have skid plates. You'll be sorry if you don't. So ON TO THE PICS!

Looks like a great time. 4runner looks good. I had a 88 land cruiser before i got my 4runner. Loved my land cruiser but hated 10 mpg. I love 17mpg with the 4runner. Toyota builds some awesome rigs. Great pics.

Awesome pictures, sure looks like really rough country. Doesn't fit with my pre-configured images of TX. Your 4R is pretty capable!!

This was our first time meeting. I had the only 3rd gen at the event and he had the only 4th gen. Both were pretty similarly equipped so I had to introduce myself to him. It just so ended up he was the major picture taker for everything. Really cool guy though, and his 4Runner is nicely done!

When we were on the overland afternoon trip with over a dozen Land Cruisers, I pulled up next to ARKRWLR and said, "You realize we have the best vehicles here." :wink2:

The only damage my group had was the black 40 series broke a tie rod. We welded it back together and he took it easy the next couple days.

lol, someone had a brand new 2013 white one out there too. Sucker was FULLY equipped.
