I,too, have the 3RZ-FE engine and 4wd. Weird option for the base model, but I'm very happy the original purchaser opted for it. Would have been happier if it had lockers too.

Anyhoo, onto the subject. I was able to download the '96 tacoma service manual from yotatech, I don't remember which one, and I see the resonator on pdf page 100/1,634.

This will bring you to yotatech and from there you can download the service manual you need/want.

The resonator is just a few inches behind the back of the airfilter box.

My question is: can I remove the small resonator and will, in doing so, add more hp to the stock 150 I have?

When the time comes, and probably not for a while (I'm almost at 184k miles) I want to swap out the engine for a diesel. I am certain there will need to be some fabrication involved, but diesel will give more torque and slightly better fuel mileage...I hope. And then I could start burning used cooking grease in conjunction with standard diesel.

It's been awhile since posting here! I spotted the infamous cracked exhaust manifold! It's hard to see but I'm willing to bet it's all the way through. So this is why my mpg's are sucking!

My solution, the 01+ Tacoma "Mini Header". Much better design. Ordered it up will all the proper gaskets and such.

In preparation for VHT paint job.

I spotted this K&N FIPK on ebay..the guy said it included everything except an adapter that he circled on the instructions. The adapter turned out to be the MAF so I got a complete gently used intake for $60 bucks! Dyno proven to make 6whp so they say. Ill put this on at the same time as the mini header.

Got everything installed! Took about 3-4 hours. Runs super smooth now. Slight increase in power if any. Sounds great though and I've got my MPG's back!

Thanks, the tires are 33 x 10.5 on 15" wheels. No spacers but I would like to put some 5mm's on to see what it looks like hehe
