My attempt at a front bumper.

So a few years ago I made a front skid plate, last year I made some rock rails

So now I'm going to try to build a front bumper. I just started it last Saturday, the cardboard is the part that im going to have laser cut. I will add in the other plates as I go. I think im going to add some dimpled holes in the lower skid to match the skid plate I made a few years back.

The small round under the headlights will be for the blinkers, the two outer square holes are for some rigid lights, the next two hole are for air flow and access to the pin for the front receiver witch is the center hole. I wanted a front receiver rather than winch mount. More pics to come, thanks.

I like the design. Very simple, but functional. What gauge steel you gonna use?

That part will be 3/16. Most will be 3/16 some of the other plates might be 10 gage.

Nice Design, any provisions for a winch? I see the receiver tube so maybe a moveable cradle to take the winch front to rear?

Yes I plan on having a winch on a cradle so I can move it and store it out of the weather when not used.

OP, do you really want to cut that much into your approach angle? If you're going to have a winch on a cradle instead of mounted inside the bumper, you can bring it much tighter to the grill.

this was my plan also. im interested to see how much material is actually used. i was hoping a 4x8 sheet would be enough for front and rear. plus i was going to make the outer portions of the bumper air tanks.

I think cardboard and pladtidip would be great, cheap, lightweight. here are a few pics of what I have do far.

I don't think I'll do the square tube I'll bend something better out of 1/4" plate. I'm still making some changes this is just it for now. Thanks

I was kinda wondering if any one would be interested in a " some fabrication/ welding required" type of a thing. Say that laser and bent piece and two mounting plates and then they can do what they want with it. Fill in the rest how they want and attach it the way they want. Just a thought. It would be way cheaper than a complete bumper and some one could take pride in what they build with a little help. Just a thought that came to me.

Or maybe a couple levels of "kit" that may contain different numbers of assemblable pieces for those that may have access to welding and some fab facilities.

Id be interested in a kit completely unassembled with a winchmount option as as well as dring mounts and a receiver depending on price of course. I was just gonna make a similar on anyway and if it saves me a few hrs cutting and measuring it might be worth it

It seems like a winchmount option might be somewhat difficult to incorporate into such a design (that seems to emphasize approach angle). But what's cool about a "build your own" would be that you could add things like d-ring mounts and stuff (if I'm understanding correctly)

I also am going to add D ring mounts. Maybe the problem with this idea is everyone wants something a little different. For every different option brings more computer time and a different laser file witch means it takes longer in the laser department. The only reason I can make some of the things I do is because of the company I work for. We are extremely busy, time is money. Like I said it's was a thought, I don't know if it would really work.

I would be interested in a fairly self contained, pre-designed, weldable kit. I like the way you're designing yours a lot.
