My attempt at a front bumper.

So here are some options I came up with yesterday.

I like this one the best but because of how far the skid plate goes down I could come up with a good way to cover the washer pump and it made getting to the bumper hardware very difficult.

This one was with the same parts as #1 but instead of them going in towards the 4r they go out. Still a good look but it made the bumper a little more rounded. This way provided good protection to the washer pump and good access mounting hardware also.

This is a compromise between both of them, it has good protection to the washer pump and good access to the mounts. It a little bigger than what I set out to do but I also don't want the pump exposed, I think that looks really tacky. I would defiantly punch some holes in the large triangle section and dimple them so it goes with the rest of the look. This is the one I think I'm going with. I won't get to work on it for a few weeks because I have to go work in Lodi, Ca. for a bit.
Nothing is final yet so I might make some changes but this is what I have so far. Thanks for all the complements.

The # 1 design for the side coverage is my favorite over 2 and 3. 3 looks nice also and looks like it would require less welding.
I haven't been on here to much lately but I missed your bumper build thread, I'm certainly glad I found it.
Was actually just thinking of how I would love to have designs for a front bumper as my friend has a cnc machine in his garage and is a welder, so all I would need would be steel and bolts and find a way to paint it or powder coat it.
It would be alot more affordable then having one shipped across country to me, paying over a $1000 isn't too appealing.
My front bumper his beat to hell living in the city and it would be great to have a steel bumper for when people back into my 4runner and for light off-roading use.
What thickness steel are you using and is it thicker in different area's?
I looks like your trying to keep weight down which is a good thing, I would be interested in keeping the bumper as light weight as possible while maintaining strength, along the lines of demello's front tubeless bumper. I think it comes in at 100 pounds?
You have done a fantastic job and I really like the look of it. I will be following your thread and progress closely when you get back

I like #1 for looks I think it looks the cleanest if you could sort out covering the washer bottle it would def be my 1st choice and then #3 would be my 2nd choice for functionality with keeping everything covered up and clean. Bumper looks awesome man great job! :hatsoff:

We have got hardly any snow this year so mission ridge isn't that great right now. 
I just wanted a front receiver so I could put a winch in when I might need it but not have to have it year round. As a daily driver I don't need one most of the year. That's just the way I wanted to do it. Thanks for all the complements and input.

As far as the insurance goes I have no idea. I would assume it wouldn't be to big of a problem just because of the amount of manufactures out there making aftermarket bumpers but I don't know.

So I made some progress this morning, it's been awhile since I've been able to work on it. Just a little bit of fab and welding left to do and then powder coat.
