my climate controlis always on.. even when I turn the fan to off?

Hi all,

So on my '02, my climate control is always on. No matter if I turn the fan dial to "off", there is always some air being forced through my vents. I usually just route it to the defroster, but there must be something going on right? ANyone else have this problem?

Nope, thats perfectly normal for the 4runner. You can either put the distribution to feet or defrost if you don't want it blowing on you. Or you can hit the Recirculation button and it will stop blowing on you.

I kinda like it. There is always a little fresh air coming in the cab.

You mean the auto climate control, or the manual? ( LCD or knobs and sliders? ). If auto, did you try hittng the "Off" button?

The climate control on my 97 exhibits the same thing...and it's the slider type. Even in the off position, i could still feel a little breeze coming out...I simply direct it to the windshield to keep any fog formation..if any..

Yeah mine does the same thing. I was going to ask about it because it was kind of annoying at first, but now I just have it directed as others have said through the defroster and I do like the constant airflow.

Also with the air coming up the front of the window it hits the air freshener in the sunglass compartment and moves the aroma around the truck, instead of just suffocating me in the front!

You'll notice that if you have the blower fan turned off, and you are not MOVING, there won't be any airflow through the vents. Maybe it's because I've never owned a brand new car....but I've never experienced any vehicle that did not let airflow through at highway speed with the control set to fresh air.

Just like cfranck1 said hit the recirculation button and it wot blow out at all

That "sunglass compartment" is actually for the garage door opener. If you see the small plastic pillars in there are of different sizes so you can place the correct size on the peg in the middle. Just the right size in combination with a velcroed in place remote garage door transmitter and just pressing the compartment door and the overhead door opens. VOILA !!!
