My Dad hates Toyota , BUT....

Guess who called me at 8am this morning stuck in the Tahoe 4x4 ( I own it but recently bought it for him)

I go over there he was parked on his lawn and we got 16" of snow. He tried , dug himself a hole . He brings out the shovels and I'm like the heck with that , pull out my straps and hook on . He was trying to spin out but I was leary of that , so I hooked and pulled locked in 4lo and pulled him out of his hole and through the 3 foot snow bank behind it.

He's always teasing me about my Toyota , today I pulled him out and just smiled. I did tell him we should have shot pic's and a video so my friends here can laugh. He's a good sport and laughed.

Had to pull him from the back hitch and my back hitch , otherwise I've had no choice but to use the LARGE tow hooks.....lol.

What do you mean by "real" tow hooks ?

Heh. Remember this day well for if your dad ever talks smack about your 'yota ever again you can whip out the "I pulled your mighty Tahoe with my sad and sorry Toyota". :p

LOL.....I went with him to the DR. this morning and he wanted take the Tahoe and I said "we might get stuck" we better not . He laughed is butt off. :D
 
Yeah, Falls in the thread mentioned why 4runners do not have "real" tow hooks like the Tahoe. Well, we know the reason now. :D
 
Funny you should mention that Falls.

Last night the Mrs. and I were out tooling around in the Runnah and we were receiving all of about 2 inches of heavy, wet snow at right about 31-33 degrees depending on where you were in the hills.

Anyhoo........We saw a few Suburban/Yukon/Escalades slip sliding all over the place, spinning wheels like mad making a nice ice glaze under the tires. Those sure are some mighty powerful, great trucks there huh?

The Runnah? Well, none of you guys need to know how wonderfully the Beast handled.

And it may just be me and my biased views, but with the snow storms we have gotten this winter - both big and little ones - I see all those folks in Explorers, Yukons, Expeditions, and Trailblazers driving like they are scared out of their little minds but every other Runnah or Sequoia are out at almost normal driving speed never having a problem.

Like I said, might just be me.

I have noticed this as well. In more than a few cases it comes down to the owner of the other vehicle ignoring the importance of good tires.
Next time you pull up behind another SUV at a traffic light stop a little further back and look at the tread depth on their tires.
I wish I had a $1 for every time I saw BALD or nearly Bald tires on the vehicles in from of me.
Let's just say I would be paying half price to fill the fuel tank on my 4Runner just about every time I get gas.

The Tahoe I bought is no comparison to my 4R. I actually just bought it for my dad sine we needed something bigger for him. ( 6'11" and 300+lbs ) is not overly comfortable in the 4R. I've only even driven it a few times , it feels like a boat.

Tires are good on it though and we are talking about it sitting in a huge amount of snow , not a few inches and he's never had a 4x4 so it's all new to him.

LOL.....I'm just messin with ya. I had to pull off his back hitch anyway , so I didn't get to make use of those massive hooks in the front.:D

Who knows , this is his first 4wd and maybe he'll get hooked like the rest of us , maybe even by a "G" wagon. All I can say is that one I WON'T be buying for him.$$$$$$$:D

I may be actually looking at a new 2008 Suburban. Having lots of issues with both my 4runner and Sienna minivan. Toyota is not what it used to be, and GM seems to only be getting better. Once again, today, in -4 degrees, my heater doesnt work. So maybe the Yukon guys are sliding around, but I am shivering.

Before buying a Suburban, be sure to take a GOOD, LONG, test drive over a wide variety of roads at different speeds.

During my last business trip a co-worker and I had a new Suburban as a rental.
The ride was MUCH MORE HARSH than the 4Runner, it's handling left a LOT to be desired and traction was not all that great.
If that particular vehicle represents the norm and not the exception I can't understand why people would buy one.
Boy was I glad to get home and drive my 4Runner. Too bad the vehicle rental places around here to not rent 4Runners.

I am not gonna buy one without extensive test drives. Thanks for the heads up. Last thing I want is a POS.

I saw that come across my bloomberg screen. I guess I will just fix the heater issue myself. Just signed up for alldatadiy.com - gonna get that TSB.
