Very nice vehicle overall. Good handling, braking, steering, and ride. The V6 has enough power for me and fuel mileage was average, nothing to write home about.
The seats bolsters around my kidneys took some time to get use to, but were pretty supportive.
One thing I do not like is the location of the cup holders. My knee is right where I would have my drink.... I guess that goes with my height.
Head room/leg room in all seats were excellent... Glad I was finally able to find a 4Runner without a Moon Roof.
Only thing I would advise people is read the manual and make yourself experienced with the child safety override... :arrow:
The dash/radio/climate control are pretty user friendly. I had trouble reseting the average mileage on the center dash readout.
I really do like the fact this 4Runner had the 16" rims, since this is what options I might go with including a leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls.
The rear hatch squeaked a bit, but I know that could be fixed at the dealer. It is nice how the hatch is sucked in automatically and you do not have to slam it. Very nice touch Toyota! I also love the fact there is 2 seperate compartments in the glove box with a light! Girlfriend and mom liked the double sunvisors.
The door pocket on the drivers side is hard to reach for a drink, but works well for maps and other paper work. The courtesy lights on the doors are also very nice. I like the fact the doors lock once the vehicle is put into gear, nice safety feature.
The oh shit handles are a great add on by Toyota, but I would probobly remove the ones overhead all the way around since there are also handles on the pillars. Entering and exiting the vehicle is very easy also. I like that the door sills and floor are flush. I have 1 really bad ankle (had 2 surgeries) and I do not have to bend it ackwardly. Very nice pain free design.
Once thing I did notice on all the door handles, there are scratches in the paint from people opeing/closing the door handles. I do not know why Toyota did not desing like a plastic backing behind the handles so this does not happen. I could get around this by putting some clear 3M tape on there, cut to fit so it looks like a nice clean install. The black plastic on the window frame is very nice since that is how I close the door, it will not scratch, another cool feature.
The paint on the body seemed to have some wear and tear, but that is typical. I think the paint is the same as other vehicles. A good paint sealer could do wonders maybe. I would recommend a hood deflector for anyone who lives in the country or drives a lot.
One other thing I did notice, a lot of dust settled on the rear hatch and the rental I had did not have a rear spoiler. I am sure it would make a difference if there was one installed. Another thing, mud/dirt really collects on the inside of the rear doors..... That is a bad spot for salt in the winter monthes. Make sure to keep it clean so there is no rusting.
Also, the roll style privacy shade is much better than my gf's compression strap style on her Pontiac Vibe AWD! Rear cargo area has a lot of space with many little compartments, which is very cool. This model did not have the double decker system, which I would probobly not use anyways. I like the fact there is a rear 12V outlet... Can get one of those coolers that plugs in, get some of bungee cors or those anti-move blocks and have cold food without the hasle of ice for those long road trips.
The headliner does scratch easily, so if anyone is going to haul anything that is large that is near the roof, heads up.
The A/C is very cold and works good, almost as well as my Ford Truck. Once thing I did notice, when I had the climate control set to vents, the outside cold air came in warmer than what I was use to. So I found myself having the windows open more than I am use to. For anyone who drives with their widows open, I would recommend Weather Deflectors from www.weathertech.com.
