My first 4runner

Got my first 4runner a couple months ago here in Grand Junction, CO. It's a 1999 SR5 with 180,000. I have had the 4runner's brother, a 1999 Tacoma TRD SR5 for 4 years but a growing family made me look for something bigger.

This 4runner is pretty clean in and out, but there is some rust underneath which is my biggest concern so far. I have never worked on a car a day in my life before getting this 4runner. But thanks to this forum and online research I have changed the spark plug wires, spark plugs, fuel filter, interior hvac lighting, and battery terminals. So thank you for all of the threads and insight on this forum. I really appreciate people taking the time to show how things are done and it has already saved me $$$

Anyways, enough talking. Here is a pic of my new black beauty, getting new tires today! And a picture of my Tacoma, which unfortunately I am going to have to sell.

Welcome to the Runner family. My family is from the Junction area. They are right up the road from you in Rifle area.

I miss the lakes up on the hill form you. Nice 4Runner by the way. Welcome to spending every extra buck you on the runner.

Welcome aboard, I have also learned a ton on here and made a few friend as well. Solid looking rig you got there - be careful of the mods bug that seems to be contagious for many members on here including myself.

Hope the new tires are big enough to keep you from wanting new ones too soon. Good looking ride, I replied to your PM.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I appreciate it. Got some DuraTracs put on this evening. Already looks and feels better! The dealership I got it from put two random bald tires on the front....and had two new DuraTracs on the back...weird but now it's all good.

I want to finish doing all the interior lighting as 50% of them didn't work when I got it. It was pitch black inside at night other than one or two of the gauge lights working. Also want to sand and paint the wheels.

A lot of stuff I want to do, but my wife and I are expecting our first child in January and most, if not all of my money will be going toward that. lol

So if anyone has suggestions on simple, inexpensive mods and maintenance I can do in the meanwhile, that would be great! Until I can save up for some other stuff. I also cleaned the MAFS, what a difference that made! The thing was pitch black!
