My first thread. Need Help

Hey guys just a quick question am going to do my timing belt and water pump change with thermostat I been reading a lot in here which has helped I know that am going to go with oem parts for sure I called toyota and they said
$147 water pump $62 Timing belt and $25 Thermostat I am not sure what else I need... coolant, radiator hoses? Here is a little history on the truck its a 2000 4runner limited 4x2 with 258XXX miles it was my uncles he always use to get it serviced at the dealer but until my mom got her hands on it around 120XXX miles lol i know for a fact my mom never did any major services like water pump or timing belt. Well now its my first car and I want to change anything that might lead to a problem before any mods . Also I was reading the pink milkshake threads which is scary should I consider a new radiator now or after I recover from this am just a college student thanks.

I've heard good things about aircabinman's timing belt kit on ebay. Yes, you'll need coolant and you might as well do the hoses now. For the radiator, from what I've gathered on here it looks like it may be wise to replace it and consider doing a tranny cooler too. Study up on the job before you start and have some info (directions, FSM steps, etc.) printed out so they're there while you work.

This is the kit a lot of people have used. Its all OEM parts and contains everything you'll need to do the change. I have seen similar kits on Amazon for a bit cheaper, but this kit has the most reviews.
Here is a kit on Amazon, which I will most likely end up buying.

You will need to add some coolant once you are finished, but it won't be a ton. You can get a single jug from either Toyota or Napa...Get the pure coolant and add your own distilled water...better bang for your buck that way.

As for the pink milkshake, you can change either the radiator or add a tranny cooler. People have done both. I personally did the tranny cooler, as it takes the fluid completely out of the radiator, which makes the milkshake impossible.

The hoses out the door at my local toyota dealer were about 18 bucks each - pretty cheap. I hate dealing with my coolant and would do them at the same time as the radiator. I also picked up aircabinman's ebay kit - really has everything you need. I also picked up a new crankbolt from my local dealership. Should really be all you need.

Thanks but for now am going to hold off on the radiator since I will be paying a local mechanic $280 for my water pump instalation since am not risking do in it myself lol
