9civichatch3 "Fun DD" Build Thread

Hello,

I have a '06 Galactic Gray Mica 4Runner SR5. We purchased it in '09 for my wife with 30k. It now has 72k. I recently traded in my Tacoma for her '11 Sequoia so I took the 4Runner (paid off, Tacoma was not). I have always like the 4Runner.

So Far:

-Front: Bilstein 5100 w/ OME 855 Springs
-Rear: Bilstein 5100 w/Toytec Superflex Springs
-Spridertrax 1.25" Spacers All Around
-265/70/17 General Grabber AT2
-K&N Drop-In w/ Charcoal Delete
-Remove/Trim Mudflaps
-Remove Running Boards
-OEM Color Matched Front Grille
-OEM All Season Mats

Feel free to comment. Open to suggestion etc..

The day we got her Sept 2010

So I had the passenger caliper replaced due to leaking last year to 18months ago.

I had new tires installed last week and the front 2 wheels would not move freely. We had to rotate with force for them to move. Wonder if that is a sign of frozen calipers?? Now the rotors are warped due to abnormal high heat.

I have a appt at the Stealership Thursday. Only a few months left on my 5yr/100k warrenty.

I installed the 5100 Fronts tonight. The install went smooth. It took about 2.5hrs total not rushing. Should get to the OME Trim Packers tomorrow. I have only done leaf springs. Need to do watch a video on rear spring removal.

Results:
Both Fronts Before - 18.5" from middle of center cap to fender (+/- 1/8")
Both Fronts After - 21.25" from middle of center cap to fender (+/- 1/8")

Unboxing..

Compressing the spring/Cleaning stuff

All together :whoo:

needed help pressing down the suspension to get the strut back in so I rigged up a knee press. It actually worked great.

All Done with the Front

There is a severe lack of Double D's in this thread, let alone fun ones; I am angered by this false advertising!

The 4Runner is a mild consolation for my nerd rage, it is prettyful.

Took it to the Dealership and it needs the following:

Warranty
-L/R Front Calipers
-L/R Swaybar Endlinks
-L/R Lower Control Arms (balljoints)

My Pocket
-Pads
-Rotors

.

liked the way you engineered the board to the lower a-arm! I'll be using that method soon, the last time I adjusted my 5100s it was a pain to get that lower mount in and I think that will do the trick

I heard from the dealership today. The warranty adjuster agreed the following:

Replace front calipers
Replace front swaybar endlinks
Replace front lower control arms
Flush brake fluid
Front end alighnment

Cost:
$100 deductable
$120 resurface rotors (pads look fine)

.

Very nice, i like that the subtle mods make such an improvement over stock. This is a very capable truck. Now I just have to remove my running boards like you did...
