My ghetto clear coat fix

Not on my 4runner but on another car I just picked up a few days ago. This method would be another applicable solution to an older 4runner that you don't want to spend too much money on. This method cost me $3 for sand paper and $13 for the product from amazon.

Clear coat was shot and peeling on multiple panels from exposure. I hit the paint with 1500 grit wet sand making sure I blended in the exposed paint with the good clear coat. After the sanding I used this rustoleum wipenew product that I have used in the past with good results. See the before and after pics.

It's no where near showcase perfect but does the trick for someone wanting to spend less than $20.

Got bored and did the front bumper too since it had clear coat issues. I know it's not a Toyota but at least you can see my 4runner and fj in the background lol.

Looks great! So you just wet sanded the areas down and then put the product on? I have a 1995 Honda Accord project and the clear coat is just like that. You did an awesome job and I will have to try this.

That's basically it. Just a little bit of wet sanding. Don't go crazy or you will burn through the paint. I would definitely not recommend on newer vehicles. Only on old beaters.

Yeah it is a 1995 Honda Accord EX V6.

This is amazing.

My wife has a 2000 accord coupe. The only thing wrong with it is an oil leak and clear coat failure. Honda paint is crap.

I may just have to do it

Very impressive, no matter what it looks like in the sunlight. This is common damage you see all the time and I knew there had to be a fix too it. I also question the durability over time but heck, with the minimal cost and labor, just do it again.
