My homemade wax thread

Since the end of last year I have looked into making my own wax. Took a while to study the chemistry behind it but the work has payed off. I ended my R&D back in February with a final prototype. And since then for 3 months now have tested durability of my wax.

But first things first, a little about the batch. My goal from the beginning was to use as many locally made ingredients as I could. But with some research I have found you can only buy Carnauba Wax from Brazil, and the carrier system is not something done locally either. But my oils, and other wax components are made here in Washington. The next problem I face is making the same batch consistently, a struggle due to the carrier system evaporation times. But that will come soon.

Secondly, I like my wax a specific way, but can certainly alter ingredients to provide different characteristics. I like it to be medium application effort but a drying time of 5-10 min so I can get the whole car done before I have to start removing excess.

Lastly my next plans are to develop a wax that lets you clean the car while waxing it at the same time. Its a spotty technique which you have to be careful not to cause marring. So any plans I had with abrasives are out the picture till I start making a polish.

Finally here are some pictures.

wait a minute,,,, you "made" your own wax ??? :thumb:
This is going to be one of those things that people say "just go buy some" but many props to you, for doing what you like/want :trophy:
I love it, please keep us posted.

Ok, so next step is for me to add in some UV protection, but I can not find a supplier in the seattle area for the chemcial. If anyone knows of a supplier who could help me, or even point me in the right direction I would certainly love the help!
