My ignition switch is stuck (won't turn) 00 4runner

I usually disconnect the negative when working on my truck, it won't do anything harmful unless losing your preset radio stations will hurt you.

I'm just curious, as to why your original chipped key lost it's ability to activate your ignition. Unless something other then the ignition is to blame.

Okay so I disconnected the battery and reconnected after 5 minutes and nothing my truck won't turn on at all. This sucks

was there a plastic ring around the cylinder with a wire going to it when you took it apart, that should be what picks up the transponder signal if it is not around the cylinder it wont start

Alarm? Or something? That's just weird, so before disconnecting the battery you would get power to things like radio and stuff, and now nothing at all?

Just not making sense, there is not a blown fuse, or relay? I'm not an electrical guy so beyond those I'm lost

I don't know of a way to check your key and see if it's still programmed to your car, besides getting a locksmith out and reprogramming the key to vehicle, but that's not a guarantee answer for the money spent.

Hey guys so I've been looking and I haven't really found an answer. My truck was recently broken into and the jackass messed up my ignition cylinder. I cant get my key in at all so I cant turn it on. I know I have to replace the ignition cylinder but I dont know if I need a transponder specific cylinder or if I can replace it with any cylinder and I'd just lose the immobilizer feature. Also, any part numbers are much appreciated. I went through the Camelback toyota page and it shows a part number but it doesn't specify whether ir not it's for a transponder or non transponder (69057-35070) .Any help is much appreciated.
