My KYB and Daystar suspension setup

Just wanted to share a pic of my new suspension setup.



Up front: KYB Strut Plus, which is the strut and spring assembly, with the Daystar Budget Boost on top. The Strut Plus is the same part number listed for us and the FJ so it provided some lift in itself.

Rear: KYB shocks with FJ specific Daystar 1.5" spacer. For whatever reason the FJ part is cheaper than the ones specified for us. Others here have used it without any problems.

Took me literally all day to complete with one run to the store for additional tools. Front top mount nuts were difficult to remove. Rear top nut on each side would not break free at all. I wound up cutting them off with a hack saw through the base of the nut. Rear xreas disconnects were a pain to get to and required removal of the sway bar end links which in themselves are a pain just due to the lack of wrench rotation space.

Impressions: I've only driven it about 5 miles but it feels good. Much less floaty and bouncy than before. No odd noises or anything out of the ordinary. Xreas wasn't leaking but had over 200k on it so it was time.

I actually had the Budget Boost on before so its not too hard to at least take an educated guess. Basically it was level before and now it has a slight forward rake (which I wanted). I know the rear came up 1.5 inches. So I would say the Strut Plus brought the front up a full inch.

Thanks. I was hoping that would be the case. I am going to install my KYB Strut Plus' that I recently received today and will post my results. I may get more of a lift because I have 175,000 miles on my V8 4Runner but around 1" is my goal.

Here is a pic of my results of the KYB Strut Plus. I gained a little over 2" of lift up front. I now have a slight negative rake. I hope it settles some as I don't care for the look. I really don't want to lift the back so if it doesn't settle I may replace the front struts or use a spring compressor and swap out the springs. I'm disappointed as I did not expect that much lift.

Wow, kudos to you for getting them with a hack saw. I used a dremel

Thanks. I like the positive rake look, though. I am looking at replacing the rear springs to bring the rear up about an inch. I am searching for inexpensive options. I think used FJ springs might be the way to go, but as I found out, you never really know exactly what you're going to get once they are installed. Just have to bight the bullet and see what happens.

You have to get one! Always seems to come in handy. Its my favorite tool aside from my chain saw. :gun5:

They will probably settle some in the front. But seriously, it looks fine and if anything the rear looks a hair higher than the front IMO. I know the measurements don't say that but it does haha.

Reviving this one. I just did the identical set up as the OP on my 05 SR5 V6, and it went from 33.25" to 38". I havent driven it yet or given it time to settle, but I wanted to see if OP had any other feedback on his set up?
