Hello all! This is my first post on the forum but I have been lurking for a few months now because I finally picked up a 4runner! I have to say the wealth of info on this forum has really helped me out from the buying process right through to choosing a lift kit...so I have to say thanks to everyone who posts for making this such a great community.
Anyway, on to the good stuff. I got a clean 3rd gen 2002 SR5 4wd 3.4L v6 with about 104,300 miles on her when I picked her up. Here are some pics after I just got her...
Color is El Dorodo Gold I believe. The previous owner kept the truck in immaculate condition. The interior was practically mint. Interior floors were always kept covered with included Husky liners and I already covered things with coverking neoprene seat covers so I can feel free to get the interior muddy
Mechanically I had the timing belt and water pump replaced as soon as I got it (as that hadn't been done) and got new brake pads / oil / filter. The maintenance records indicate the car was well maintained and did have the ball joint recall addressed a few years ago to boot. There's a bunch of preventative maintenance I want to do in the near future but the next project is going to be this mess which is currently sitting in the corner of my living room:
Based on a lot of research I decided to go with a tundra / 890 lift. Bilstein adjustables up front, 95 land cruiser shocks in back. I'm looking for about 2.5" lift in front and 3" in back. I'm not as in to hardcore off-roading as I am overlanding and tackling some pretty rough roads around the soCal deserts so this fit the bill for me. Also...it's a daily driver so I wanted to keep it manageable (although I bike to work so this is kind of a weekend car )
My plans in the future (some of which are under way) include the following:
-Installing my lift
-"de-chroming" the car - black bumpers
-Satoshi grill mod
-Clear corners / turns
-LED interior / exterior conversion with an LED relay
-LED tails
-Black wheels
-Sliders (?) (Iffy on this one...but definitely going to drop the running boards)
I've already replaced the front bumper inlay to get rid of that dent you see in the old picture above...but unfortunately work has me crazy busy working 6 days a week right now so I haven't been able to get the lift in yet...but hopefully in the next month I'll have a good solid weekend to get it in. I can't wait to install it as I've never had a lift before. I'll be sure to keep you all posted...hopefully with some pics when all is said and done!
