My new snow tires and wheels

I recently bought a set of Milestar Patagonia 285/70r17 M/T tires that I’m using as my snow tires this winter. My 18-year-old OEM wheels were peeling, so I also bought a set of 17x8 American Racing rims. Walmart had a deal going, so I got the tires for about $160 each, and the wheels were also about $160 each, also at Walmart. My Discover card also had a 5% off deal at Walmart when I bought everything, so I saved another $80 for the set of five wheels/tires.

The wheels are machined, but the center caps are more chrome looking, so I left them off. I think they look better without the center caps. The blue color showing in the center of the wheel is the Spidertrax 1.25” wheel spacer.

Overall, I like the new look!

Are these Mud & Snow tires? I think winter tires (Blizzaks for example) are a lot more expensive.

They do say “m+s” on the sidewall.

there's certainly a difference between "m+s", "3-peak", and "snow". M+S is an all-season tire, not necessarily designed specifically for snow at all. that said, if you don't get a ton of snow during the winter, i'm sure they'll work fine. this article has some good info: Discount Tire | Tires and Wheels for Sale | Online & In-Person

Yes, I am aware of the differences, and thanks for the link! I have owned tires from all 3 categories. I was just answering the specific question, “are these mud & snow tires?” I actually had to look at the sidewall because I couldn’t find the info on the Milestar website. I had just read online reviews about how they did in the snow.

Where I live, when it snows, only about 20”/yr avg., the roads are cleared within a day or two. Also, since covid started, I’ve only been driving about 150 miles/month - just trips to the local grocery store, gas station, bank or post office.

Sweet choice! Love the new tire and wheel combo. 18in are just too much rim on the 4runner. Glad you went with the 17in.
