My New Toy!

Hey guys!

As some of you know, I've been on a search for a 2nd Gen, Quad Cab, Long Box, TRD Sport Tacoma for some time now. After many years of admiring from afar... I finally found the truck of my dreams!

I spent the last few weeks trying to convince my wife that we should by a Taco, instead of a Tundra. I took her for a test drive in a few last week, and had her hooked! HA HA!

Last night, we drove 300km's East and spent the night in a Motel so that we could test drive a 2005 Speedway Blue TRD Sport with the Double Cab and Long box! Found this one at George Jackson Toyota in Renfrew Ontario, with just under 95000km's on the Odometer!

When I got there, I found the truck to have NO rust, was exceptionally clean, and in Immaculate Condition! The truck belonged to a a man in his 50's, and he maintained it meticulously! It was Dealer Serviced since New, and a nice light coat of under coating over everything under the truck, including all the doors and panels had been drilled to spray inside as well.

I did however find a couple of small dings, and a couple of dents on the driver side rear bumper. After playing hardball with the Sales Manager, I was able to get them to pull out the dents out of the rear bumper for no charge!

Aside from that... the truck came equipped with a Bug Deflector for the Hood, Winder Visors, Nerf bars, and I was able to get them to throw in a hard top 3 piece Tonneau cover for only $200.00 on top of the original purchase price!

Anyway... enough with the blabbering.... here's a few pics...

I'm extremely happy with this purchase! The truck runs like a dream, and the service at George Jackson Toyota was GREAT!

So I have to ask, who gets to drive this, you or the wife?

I really like the blue. And it has the hood scoop to boot. Now you don't need one on the 4runner.

For less than 60,000 miles (if my conversion is correct), you should get years of enjoyment out of it. Heck, drive it to work since it would be much more reliable than the Chevy you have to drive.

WELL DONE SIR!! Well done! That is one gorgeous Tacoma...Envious, you've achieved my dream vehicle set up - a 3rd gen 4Runner and a 2nd gen Taco...

Congratulations man!

Nice knowing you. Sell-out. See you on TW.

J/K man. Glad to see you got what you wanted, and a fine specimen @ that. The Speedway Blue has always been a favorite factory color for me too. I'm bummed to see the Mean Green Machine go on the back burner, but there's no stopping progress.

Make a build thread over here too, please.

Thanks for the Congrats guys! I've been searching for a while, and have been wanting one for several years. I still love my 4Runner though, and I'm gonna still be driving it regularly! I have to feed my ego somehow... every time I drive Mean Green, I get people coming up to me asking me about it, and complimenting me on my setup!

I'm planning a few cheaper mods for the Taco. First thing I want to do is black out the rear tails.... I hate the Pink colour that they have. I might do a Headlight mod, and I'm gonna tint the front windows to match the rear.

As for Mean Green, I'm really going to have a hard time letting the wife drive it! I'm gonna have a hard time letting her drive either truck! lol! But.... a Happy Wife is a Happy Life... and she likes driving my Toyotas!

In fact.... she now LOVES driving my Toyotas! After a long trip using my buddy's Grand Am to go pick up the Taco, she now HATES GM's! The damn car gave us tons of trouble.... thinking there are some Electrical Gremlins with it... cause Wipers, heater blower motor quit, and then we found water getting in behind the dash!

Just about everything that could go wrong during out trip.... did! lol!

Anyway, Stay tuned for a Build Thread for the Taco... and don't worry... Mean Green will still be given some love! It's just hard to find mods for it now... as I've done just about everything I wanted to do with the truck... besides getting that ever elusive Sport hood for it! ;)

Good find Fightman, she's a winner. Been doing the same Tacoma admiring from afar as well. Those are sweet trucks, love the color. I have a Sonic Blue 04 Ford Lightning absolutely love those shades of blue. She looks purrrdy when all cleaned up. LOL

Hope all is well.

Best regards.......... 8sm

nice ride fightman, i almost got one of these recently, but it can't fit inside my garage :/ ( yeah my garage is that small :(

Thanks for the Compliments guys! I'm really digging this new (to me) truck! It's nice to take a step into the 21st Century, and have a slightly more modern pickup to drive!

So, I promised that I'd start a build thread for the Taco, and I figured... why not just use this thread! It's already got all my pre-purchase pics and a back story included... so here it is! lol!

Today, I kept things simple, and just washed, polished, and waxed the truck.

I also spent some time detailing the interior and all the black plastics on the exterior and the tires.

The back seat is setup for kiddie duty!

Oh... and as I stated before... North Eastern sections of Canada, have excessive Road Salt applications... so many vehicle owners around here, will spray their undercarriages with an Anti-corrosion coating... I use motor oil... this guy used something different.

Regardless of what you use.... the results speak for themselves.

STAY TUNED FOR MY FIRST MOD! (coming soon!)

That third picture, w/Mean Green in the background, parked out on the street like the trash on a Monday, while the Tacoma gets rubbed and polished in the driveway...

Yup... This is what's happening...
