There is NO WAY that the Cherokee, Durango, or Armada have higher clearance than a stock 4th gen T4R! :bash:

I looked at all of the vehicles you mentioned VERY HARD and NONE of them, with the exception of the Xterra, has anywhere near the offroad ability of the 4Runner!

The Jeep was even lowered more for the new design than older models! And I park NEXT TO ONE EVERY DAY so I know it is lower than a 4Runner!

I hate it when people spew false information.

I was mentioning the ability to "JACK" them up off the ground with aftermarket parts that don't rip both pockets off your pants.
And if you pullled up next to an Nissian Armanda then the driver would be sitting higher than you in your 4Runner. I know this for a fact with the Durango because lady friend has 2005 model at work. The wheel wells have more space for upsizing your tires and even the stance looks more bad ass than our 4 Runner's. Our 4Runners would look bad ass if Toyota had design them with the ability to go up 4-6 inches without having to spend 3k-5k to do so.

And yes....... I do understand that Toyota engineers were designing this puppy on the boards back in 2000-2002 when rollovers were a big issue; so I will cut them some slack on that account. But the next generation had better live up to higher expectations or my 4Runner buying days are over----they probably are anyways! If the FJ Cruisier had a bit more of cargo space then I would've trade my Runner for it in yesterday.

The Nissan Armada is a Bigger vehicle overall. That is why the driver is higher up. Of course, it is also one badass and aggressive looking truck. :

The same goes for the Durango... well the first part at least. :biggrin2: It has far less room in the wheel well area BTW. That is one if it's bigger weaknesses.

As I said, when deciding on my truck I did extensive research. I joined the various forums and groups. Asked multiple questions. Talked to current owners and the mehanics that worked on the vehicles.

The Durango has okay room but it has NO offroad ability. This isn't just my opinion. I asked on a couple of Durango owners forums how capable the truck was for offroad use.

I was told that if offroad use was at all important to me, then I should consider another vehicle. :awais:

Of all the vehicles I researched, only the 4Runner had the best blend of off and on road ability, looks, value, and reliabilty.

And I added a small spacer lift to my truck that wasn't exspensive and didn't degrade the on-road handling at all. I also upsized my tires to BFG AT KO 265/70/17.

And I don't feel small or wimpy next to any other truck.
