So I followed the guide from CJ3Flyr, http://www.toyota-4runner.org/perfo...-vsc-off-atrac-mod-complete-7.html#post949263, to do my own VSC cancel, and aside from a few different results, it seems to be working great, so this is how I did it.
First I took the panel from under the glove-box off, which requires taking out 1 Phillips head screw, and popped it down, on this panel is the 4WD ECU, which has the cable that you will be splicing, (this is all the same as the original write up).
Then You'll want to Locate the red wire with blue tracer, and strip, not cut, it.
I then soldered a wire (salvaged from an old wire I had laying around) I chose this wire because it had wire copper core (with the multiple copper strands) instead of solid core. I chose this core because it doesn't brake as easily, and the solder seems to work better on this kind of wire. I forgot to take pictures of the soldering
happens but it looked something like this (picture from the URD MAF cal installation)
Then I soldered it
Next I snaked that wire, (about 4 feet long) to the other side under the trim, I suggest using the pictures from the original mod when doing this because the pictures I took aren't very informative.
Next I took the trim off that goes around the steering column and such, this requires the taking off of 2 bolts, with an 11mm socket, or just plyers. In the image, you can see a wire sticking through the empty button space, this is the wire that is soldered to the ECU on the other side.
Next, I used my dremmel to hack up one the the empty button spaces, in order to fit my toggle in there. I then used a drill to make a hole for the toggle to fit through, and screwed on a plastic nut to hold the toggle in.
I soldered the wire to the "ACC" first, then realizing my mistake, cut the wire and re soldered to the "Power" tab of the switch. I grounded to the same spot the CJ3Flyr grounded in his guide, I used about a 5 inch solid core wire, and closed up, I taped the wire inside the trim on the drivers side, I left slack so that when I opened it It would not pull my soldering job loose.
Heres the finished Product.
When I flip the switch when driving, it takes a second and then the VSC turns off, It doesn't show the center diff locked which is supposed to happen, but I see it as a plus. Also when I flip the switch to the ON position, the blue led turns on, which is really cool. To reset, I need to turn the car off, but thats the trade-off for this mod. Thanks everyone for answering my questions about this mod, I'm very excited to put it to good use in Colorado's brand new snow!
