so after fixing 3 of the wires to my o2 sensor (vehicle side) that got cut by the drv shft(still need to replace the o2 with new one) my 25/26 engine code went away... woot but now i have a mysterious cel that only comes on above 4k rpm either in gear or parked.

running 92 sr5 4wd v6 auto with 33x 12.5's and stock 4.30 kind of have to wind it out.. pulled the te1 e1 jumper and the cel just flashes... not like it flashed the codes for 25/26 its just flashes as a steady pace....

any clues?

i guess it didnt mean any thing to me but the transmission over drive light comes on when the diagnostic port is jumped may not have noticed it before withe the previous codes but could that mean transmission issues?

I am not sure if the cel in OBD1 can show trans issues but what is the code that isnt stored in the ecu after engine shutdown? it could be that maybe?

sadly it does not display a saved code when the engine is turned off and indicates no code when the engine is revved up past 4k when the engine jumper is in like it would normally come on with out it jumpered :(

just cleared them the day prior after fixing an o2 issue (broken wire) and had code 25/26 (rich/lean)

so today i pulled the efi fuse again for over a minute to make sure its fully cleared and reset for any new codes. jumpered te1/e1 to verify no codes and cel activity @ reset shut off the truck and pulled the jumper and start it back up the cel is clear and the light is off. once the engine gets above 4k it came back on so i jumpered the te1/e1 immediatly following and the light does not indicate any code at all and displayed the same activity as it did right after reset... its just blinks at a steady pace with no pauses... the truck is averaging about 10-14 mpg which i would expect out of 4.10/4.30 gearing with an automatic and having to winde up past 5k and all in town driving (our main street is stop and go highway)....

p.s. (i still have yet to take it to a mechanic to torch off the nut on the o2 stud to replace it)but thats a different issue entirly

It could.

ECT ECU Trouble Codes

1 . Turn ignition on. DO NOT start engine. Depress OD switch to the ON position.

NOTE: Trouble codes can only be retrieved with OD switch in the ON position. If OD switch is in OFF position, OD OFF light will be on continuously and will not blink the trouble code.

2 . Install jumper wire between terminals TE1 and E1 of data link connector.

3 . Note number of flashes from OD OFF light on instrument panel. If normal system operation exists, OD OFF light will blink 2 times per second.

NOTE: A stuck solenoid will not set a trouble code. Trouble codes are only set for circuit malfunctions, not mechanical failures.

4 . If system is operating correctly and no trouble code exists, turn ignition off and remove the jumper wire. Perform the MANUAL SHIFTING TEST to determine if problem is electrical or mechanical. Check system by the symptom.

5 . If trouble code exists, OD OFF light will flash once every second. The number of flashes will equal first digit of trouble code. After a pause of 1.5 seconds, second digit will be displayed.

6 . If more than one trouble code exists, next trouble code will be displayed after pause of 2.5 seconds. Smallest value trouble code will be first. Trouble codes will be repeated.

7. Once trouble code is obtained, determine probable cause and symptom. Turn ignition off and remove jumper wire.

NOTE: Once repairs have been performed, trouble codes must be cleared from ECT ECU memory.

I grabbed that off the web, but the same instructions are likely in the FSM. Do you have a copy yet?

i am getting steady ~2 flashes per second od on/off from both the od light as well as the cel

yeah i have a few fsm's on several devices... (25/26 codes didnt come from od light)

ok so after what i can guess is a bit over 200 miles it is finally throwing a code... looks like 2 flashes and a 4 second pause then 2 flashes again.... afm... explains the issues i am having...

afm... explains the issues i am having...

Interesting...I was under the impression the early air flow meters either worked or they didn't(as in the car wont run or start). I would have it tested before you buy a new one just to make sure.

Good Luck.

honestly think i am just chasing broken wires.... (bought a used one from the pull yard) engine idles smoothly... but the cel came back on 15 miles after resetting with a code 52 knock sensor....... engine is still exhibiting the same issues with (limp home mode after driving around most of the day so im at a loss)

i guess i didnt fully explain what is going on... after driving around for an hour or more the engine starts limiting rpm... first 4500 rpm, then 4000, rpm then about 2200-2500 rpm have to pull over and shut the truck off for a bit (usually 15+ minutes) once this is done the truck again runs normal...

when we bought the truck it had a 24/25 and obviously by the smell of unburned petrol from the exhaust it was obvious... while in the process of preparing to replace the 02 sensor i noticed the wires coming off the vehicle side had been chewed through due to having been rubbing on the drive shaft...

upon fixing the wires most of the smell of petrol disappeared for about 3-5 days and the code 24/25 disappeared completely but the cel would still come one once the engine was reved past 4k rpm but the computer showed no signe's of a code both the trans light and the cel would steadily flash...

thinking it was a fuel related issues and not knowing the service history of the truck i did a full tune up... plugs, wires, fuel filter, (still need to get the cap i have replaced as the one i bought did not line up with the dizzy), oil filter, and coolant... i guess the next thing is to test the fpr and then the fuel pump..... really hate to wait on the knock censor but.... aarg
