mystery fuel hose disconnected

I've been looking all over in manuals, online, etc., and can't seem to find a good image/diagram for this hose that I'm not sure if it's supposed to be connected to anything or not. It's just kind of sitting there wide open to the air. On the hose it says something like 08fuelRX. The end of it has some kind of thing on it, but I don't know if I would call it a nipple.

The hose goes down and connects somewhere towards the bottom of the engine. Here's a pic, have a look:

Diff breather

Not 100%, but that to me looks like the breather for your front differential. I'm currently too lazy to go out and look at my truck, but I recall it looking quite similar to that.

That's what it is. It's also missing the metal cap that helps keep dirt out.

OP, I would check the condition of the gear oil in your front diff. Change it if it's contaminated, and get a new cap for the breather hose.

I see you have a block heater too. Those are nice to have on bitter cold days.

Thanks for the response and good call shmabs. Thanks to the others for the second look and advice. Will do on the gear oil check and hose cap.

I haven't used the block heater yet, but will definitely this winter here in Montana.
