Mystery plug

Anybody here know what this plug is for? I've asked two other 4Runner owners if they know but they're also lost, none of us recall it ever being connected
Looking to tap my raptor lights into some existing wiring instead of making a new circuit and hoping this could be used

Outside temp sensor plug is black for limiteds with digital climate control with outside temp display. You can see the temp sensor/probe bracket to the left in the pic and the missing temp sensor.

Edit, there should be 2 other wire bundles coming out of the same location for signal and fogs if it was prewired for fogs, temp and ofcourse signals. The fogs would be a small grey male plug coming from the harness, and obv the signals are a female grey plug. When I say male or female plugs I'm referring to the plastic connector not the pin configuration in the plugs.

Nah, my fog light plug is tucked away currently. Plan to use those wires for, well, fog lights I guess - gonna be adding some lamps to my bumper in the future

Thank you, that would explain why nobody could give me an answer. I assume that would be part of the inclinometer/altimeter if it was installed?

It's for the USDM temp sensor/probe for digital climate control 99-02 I think? which has outside temp display, and I imagine for the 95.5-02? Hilux Surf FMU outside temp sensor/probe #83482-35019 for the FMU outside temp display, or digital climate control depending on JDM model and country, they both use the same mount tab on the body in that location but are different sensors/temp probe, even both my 97 SR5 4x4's have this mount waiting for a temp sensor but no unused wiring like yours has., interesting, what year is your rig?.

Edit, even the fog wiring is small gauge so you would be best to make your own harness with 14ga and a 30A relay using maybe the fog as a signal by tapping into it, or your own wiring and a rocker switch depending on preference/purpose. I'm guessing you don't have a fog switch on the stock for the steering wheel controls, but a harness to add your own switch.

Year is 2000. Not opposed to making my own circuit for some lamps, I currently have a LED bar that I had to do so, controlled with a rocker switch. It would just be nice to add some LED lamps and still control it from the steering wheel (I'm no longer using the fat lip bumper so turn signals and fog lights were removed.)
In regards to the raptor lights I was just trying to avoid making it's own circuit since these 3 tiny LEDs would be such a minimal amount of power.

I only had fenders bumpers off 1997 and 1998 and they dont have those. Never pulled the front bumper off my 2001 yet. Being yours is a 1999 to 2000 I took a guess. . Glad a member could answer it for you.

I agree if your going to run light circuits its best to build your own harness for your add ons. Lots of wires are small gauge and cant carry the current. Serveral threads discuss options on how to do it if you need assistance on that route.

As others have said, that is the outside temp sensor plug used on the Limited on the '99+ trucks. You could hijack those wires inside for relay triggers, but I wouldn't use them to actually carry current.

I used it as the plug for my FMU outside temp sensor - it required removing the key on it to allow the FMU sensor to plug in. I pinned the dash-side harness for the missing wires and connected those up to the FMU...
