Mytoy4 Build Thread

No I'm not. Dave's just being a punk. I'm getting 16.4 right now.

Thats pretty good with the V8 then. I thought the 285 Zeons were great for my MPG as I didn't take too much of a hit. Granted, I was running them on some lighter wheels but that didn't make that much of a difference.

:withstupid:What she said...:jk:

I'm getting around 14ish combined, 12ish when loaded with gear.

Gotcha. Still not bad considering how much your truck weighs...or how awesome it looks. Sounds like you could be around 16 if not for the bumpers/weight.

Hell I'm getting 14 is all......

With your V6, I would've guessed you were getting better than that. Do you have a lead foot? Ha. I thought the ligher P285 nittos wouldn't be that bad on MPG (relative to other 285s). You aren't that much higher and I was able to squeeze out 19+ with the 285/60 Zeons. Of course, they were worn down (less resistance) at the time and I don't have a roof rack or anything else.

The roof rack and mostly it's driving hurts it a lot. I might have a caliper starting to stick as well..... No lead foot really either.

Had the alignment done, put it's center caps on and washed it!
(not the best pic, but you get the idea)

Thanks, DP!
Yep, I'm thinking so myself. On to more research :redbrick:

just go with light racing UCA's made by SPC performace or specialty products company there the least expensive, way stronger than stock, and completely adjustable... multiple people run these and that work great

Thanks, Austin! That helps :)
I have more rubbing now too, so gotta get that adjusted again too. This is a never ending project, huh? :wink2:

When I first installed the lift it seemed to ride almost identical. Very smooth and quiet.
Now that I have put new wheels and tires on, it rode okay but on rough uneven roads, it really seemed to shift all over the place.
I thought maybe the alignment was the cause but now that that's done, it still seems to all over the road and a bit rough feeling under the tires.
Maybe this is to be expected with larger tires.
For those of you that now ride on larger tires, can you help clarify if this is the cause?
I understand Caster is a bit negative and I will be looking into new UCA's. Will this help with the way its riding or is it just something that is expected now?

I'd say its primarily the alignment (caster) thats causing it. The bigger (in this case taller and much wider) tires will magnify the steering feedback that you're getting. Wider tires have a tendency to follow the imperfections in the road more. If there's a groove or dip in the road, the tires will want to go that way. So that, in combination with your loss of caster from the lift will give you that "squirrely" or "darty" feeling that you're getting. Aftermarket UCA's will let you get back in spec with the caster and help you get back some stability. But lifting and bigger tires will always take away from that "factory" stability that you're accustom to. Also bringing the front end down to take away that nose high condition will help reduce the build up of air pressure under the truck at higher speeds.

Welcome to the world of mods! :D

FWIW, Mine felt squirrely until the caster was brought back into spec. But even then it was never like oem.

Dave is right Terri. When I put my front suspension and new UCA's in, my truck was wandering all over the place and felt crazy loose. If you look back to my build, you'll even see where I mentioned it. I went back and added additional caster using the UCA adjustment and it made a world of difference. Then after alignment it rides great. Trust us, this is what it is. Caster over factory spec (like I've got), no problem. Caster under factory spec, big problem. Even if it's a fraction of a degree.

If you haven't looked, I got a pretty great deal on them from Amazon here. They're normally like $450 everywhere, but I bought them for $399 and got free (lightning fast) shipping and right now they've got them listed for $388.71.

Do this next and report back. If you need help with the install or reading the instructions on how to use the caster/camber adjustments just let us know. I promise it'll make all the difference. Only downside is, you'll need to get your alignment re-done. I just went ahead and bought a 3-year alignment deal this last time I went in (would have bought lifetime if they offered it since some places do) since it only cost the same as 2 alignments and because I knew I'd be coming back if I needed to tweak things like UCA adjustments or coil-over settings.

Good luck!
