Mytoy4 Build Thread

I was just about to say that Demello is now making aluminum versions of their bumpers which would be perfect.

I mean no disrespect to anyone, but I honestly don't care for the look of this bumper. It's a bit too overwhelming for my taste and I don't like how it shows the guts of the truck on both sides in front of the tires.

I still really like the look of the SW. One of my favorite trucks with this bumper belongs to magert54

That's exactly what I'm going to do :) It's at the shop now so we'll see what the total damage was and if it'll be PDR or an actual repaint.
What gets under my skin most is that it happened while I was at the mall. I NEVER go to the mall. I HATE the mall. :frusty:

i hate the mall. The mall echoes.

But in all seriousness it seems like your situation will end up helping you like mine did. The lady backed into my front end. Fixed my clear coat failing bumper as well as my fog lights which were faded. Oh cant forget about my grille that was cheaply painted. All brand new at the expense of someone else. Couldnt ask for more since i was going to have to pay to get it done anyway!

You're so right! I truly believe that there is a reason for EVERYTHING!

Shrock works is going to be heavier, I haven't looked at them lately but you would definitely want an aluminum SW bumper I would think with your setup.

It may be worth while to call up toytec and see what they say the number is of the extra amount of weight that can be added just to stay within your setup range.

you can also do things like removing the hoops and purchasing bare steel apposed to poweder coat to get the cost down, then you have the ability (well your husband has the ability lol) to weld on hoops of your desires and of potentially less weight. just throwing thoughts out there for ya, I'm sure you have much more on your mind with the truck than just the front bumper.

You ever have those times where you wonder if anything else want's to go wrong??
Now my brake pad broke and my rotor is grinding terrible!

Then to top this shit week off, my boy broke his toe today and they tell me that he might have cancer in his foot. My heart is truly broken.

Sorry to hear about your dog certainly sending prayers his way!

That's no good about your brakes either; however, I thought I'd send you my despair to let you know your not alone. I changed about my hub bearings this weekend. After painstaking hours spent friday night trying to use a bearing puller to remove the old hub bearing assembly from the wheel hub flanges, I took them to a local drive line shop Saturday morning.

They said "yeah we can press those off and press your new ones on no problem 20 bucks for the press work is all it will cost" I said sweet! call me when there ready.

went back home finished cleaning up the steering spindles removed my brake calipers and cleaned them up really good pressing all pistons back in to insure no seized caliper characteristics.

Had everything ready for the new hub assemblies, so I called to check there status.. "yeah there ready we thought you were just coming back by later sorry we didnt realize you were waiting for a call" I said okay cool I'll be there shortly...

I get there, the guy proceeds to say "oh man I actually have to apologize we weren't able to press out the old hub flanges, even with a hydraulic press"..
Me: "WTF! you said they were ready yall had my number you can't call anyone to tell them not to waste 5 hours of your day waiting for DA's that can't press a flange out with a 20ton press!!!!" grabbed my parts and left.. The hub assemblies didn't even appear to have been touched, they looked just as they did when i left. One of them a 1/4" pressed out from what little I got it to move covered in penetrating oil(with a bearing puller and impact wrench) and the other dry as a bone hadn't even been pressed on.

So pissed! I went to toyota had their service writer walk me back to there master tech. He offered to do the work but was honest in saying he wouldn't be able to get it done that day and that "These are the hardest hub bearing assemblies toyota makes to pull" (kinda laughed when he said that).. However they wanted like 220 to do the press work. I said later...

got back home at around 1pm or 2pm grabbed the damn angle grinder and cut off wheel and cut the hub bearing assembly off the hub flange for both sides, put a new outer seal on the new hub bearing and pressed them both on to the original hub flanges had the brakes bled and test drove by 6 that evening.

guess what I found in the test drive... A seized front passenger side caliper...:suspicious::mad:

So sorry to hear about all of this Terri. I can certainly relate to the whole "when it rains, it pours" shitty cliche'. Hang in there, brighter days are certainly ahead. Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Austin, you're funny! I think that's the first laugh I've had in two days! :)

Sorry to hear about your pup :(, I hope he has a speedy recovery! As a fellow dog owner, I know how heart breaking it is to see him in pain like that, but let's try to be optimistic for now until the vet says otherwise...

Also, remember that all those other unfortunate things happening to your 4runner can always be fixed with money, so don't even let it get you down.

Thank you :) ... and you're right. It's just hard when two vets have both mentioned that it looks like cancer. Being through it myself with another dog, I remember those radio-graphs clearly and it looking very similar in the bone.

With that being said, I have great news! My vet just called and said that he had a radiology specialist read them and he is confident in saying the he feels it an old break that is now arthritic. He's also showing indications of arthritis in his other toes/feet. He's going to have them read by one more level up, but he stated there is no indications of cancer.
We're still working daily with the recent break. He's doing well. A lot of swelling and pain meds. But all in all he's doing great and he's loving all of his extra hugs and kisses.
I love my boy!! I know this isn't a dog forum, but you're on MY build thread :D So before I log off... just a friendly reminder for those who have these furry loves in their life... hug and kiss them every day. You never know when their last day will come.

I was finally able to get in to have an estimate done for the hail damage. :ybrick:
Total damage is just shy of $7K.

I'll have conventional work done on both quarter panels, both fenders and the entire roof. The hood will be replaced with a sport hood. PDR will be done on the lift gate and rear doors. I'll also have my Satoshi and bumper repaired as well.

wow! thats crazy how fast it all adds up! At least its being taken care of and you get a sport hood out of it.

No kidding! The roof skin alone was $1000. Good thing too is I get a rental car while mine is getting fixed :)

Holy Cow! That may have totaled my '03....

I'm sure you'll be well taken care of with the body work though, be sure and post some before/after comparisons!

Don't know how I missed the previous post, but that's great news about your Dane!!! I have a 14-year-old Yorkie with a few problems so I have a good idea of how you feel with worrying about him. Keep us updated!
