Nags Head Beach day?

Anybody want to get together for a day at the beach in Nags Head? I have been wanting to hit the beach since I got my runner and want to go down there before the crowds get too crazy. I'm thinking driving down there Sunday morning, hanging out all day, then driving back in the evening.

Who's down? I'm not able to go this weekend, but any sunday after I should be able to go. You do need to purchase an ORV permit, they are 120 for a yearly permit, or 50 for the weekend permit. They can be purchased the same day, and the offices are supposed to be open on Sunday.

I know this is an older thread but to the best of my knowledge you only need the above said permit for beaches on Hatteras Island ... If I was planning a beach trip I would go to Corolla still free, largely open and tons of back trails to explore just my $0.02

Thanks for the heads up. It is impossible to find any good information out there, and I can't always be sure that the visitor information websites are updated. After a little more google-fu, it does look like the Corrolla beaches are wide open for some 4wd fun!

They sure are ... IMO it is now the best beach for offroading now that the seaturtles and bird nests have taken over hatteras ... $50/weekend is a little overpriced
