Name that seal?

I did a search here and on google and cannot find a schematic, part number or name. Hope I can get one or all three.

It's a 95 2wd, on the front spindle / hub assembly there is a wheel bearing seal and then a seal that mounts on the spindle and seals around the hub. That's the seal I'm trying to identify.

Anybody have an ID?

I'm not sure what you are describing. There is a inner Front Hub Seal (43502) and a Gasket (43422) for the cover plate.

Buy Beck/Arnley Wheel Seal 052-3487 at Advance Auto Parts I've had to replace mine as well and had a hell of a time tracking them down. About $35 at Advance Auto Parts. Not sure what the dealer charges.

I don't think that's the part he's looking for. I've never seen that part, and I've installed two sets of rotors on the 2nd gen T4R. The inner front seal is like $9 a piece.

Well, its on my second gen. But mine is 4x4. I just replaced both sides.

Both 2nd Gen I worked on was a 4x4 and a 2wd. Both similar except for the CV axle, like in the diagram.

....I'm not crazy.... The oil seal mounts in front of the dust cover that mounts to the spindle... I just replaced mine last weekend.

The last diagram had it, simply called "oil seal" that bolts onto the dust cover. I'm guessing it's a back up to the bearing seal. Thank you guys.

That part to me does not look like a seal, but a flange. It looks like it's attached to the Dust Cover and should not touch the hub.

The picture does not show it well but there is a rubber seal on the flange that rides on the outside of the hub. When I changed rotors I didn't even know it was there and both mine were dry and brittle. I had to put it back together without changing them as I needed the truck, but its on the "to do" list that keeps on giving.

I just happen to have a spare hub, I'm waiting to install on a buddys 2nd Gen. I decided to look at it, and it did have milled end. I guess that's where the outer seal contacts. Though I did not notice any cracking when I pull the hubs to replace the rotors. I guess it's there to keep the brake dust from getting to the axle.

Now I know what to look under research says its for Non-ABS front wheels. They are available on flea-bay for $30 / pair shipped and others for $23 shipped or so.

That may be why others dont have that seal if they have the front ABS.

The "oil seal" that you are refering too is just a metal piece that protects the oil seal. If a foreign object gets inside the rotor cavity near the spindle area, that piece prtects the seal from being damaged, It doesnt act as a seal at all. Instead of a CV you should have a knuckle grease cap here:

Per the diagram above you want the knuckle seal, the oil seal that sits in front of the knuckle grease cap and the metal "oil seal" rings are reusable unless they are lost or damaged.

That makes sense on a 4wd. On my 2wd it may just be redundant since there is nothing greased except inside the hub. When I cleaned the spindle with the hub removed pieces of the rubber shield / seal crumbled.

It maybe redundant or over engineered but for my piece of mind I will go ahead and pull them back apart and replace anyway. Thanks for all the quick responses, as always it's a great reference forum with a great bunch of guys.

My 4runner has 250k and I hope to be still driving it at 500k so I'm learning every system as something wears out?
