First things I did was add a new Pioneer in Dash Hu w/ Navi Ipod hook up in glove box so I can lock it away




Second Mod was added a flowmaster 44 series muffler (no pic)
I like the sound, I don't think it's too aggressive at all. And doesn't sound like a tuner either. Eventually I will cut my resonator and reroute to side exit


Next was the lift, decided to go w/ Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer kit...I plan on doing a full suspension swap but not for a while.

Yesterday I FINALLY got some new tires...After a lot of help from you guys I went with 255/75/17 BFG Mud Terrain T/A KM


I didn't notice any difference in sound on highway (maybe because my other tires were so horrible)
But I did notice a little drop in acceleration, as expected. Also minor rubbing at full lock in reverse. I will just have to move my fender liner up, no biggie.

And the last thing I have done now is a "custom grill":thumb3:

I was looking at Billet grilles, and saw what you guys did and found a clever idea to make your own...Total cost for me $13.86 and I like it

Oh yea, and a fun toy.....


once it's dark I will post up a pic of my HID's, got them from DDM tuning for $40.
Went w/ 55w 8000k (only because they said some color will wash and 8000k will look like 6000k) Which it does, as I was afraid it would be too blue.

Now that my pockets are drained, I won't do anything else for a while (I hope)

But eventually I want...
-Roof basket with some lights
-Toytec ultimate lift
-1.25" BL

Gutter guard from home depot!!! Put it in with zip ties, took about 2 hours or so...

When you replaced the stock radio, can you still use controls on the steering wheel for the radio? Thanks.

I have the SR5, so I'm without steering wheel controls...but I think if you do they have adapters you can buy to use w/ those controls for most new head units.
Pretty sure there are some guys on here that have done so

Indeed they have adapters (if you have the controls). I have a SWI-JACK from PAC-audio for my Alpine but they make one for pioneer and most other brands as well.

Great looking truck!!! I wanted to get those exact tires SOOOO bad but just couldn't justify mudders on my 2wd for looks alone. I had 2 sets on my old Z71 (285/75R16) and LOVED them, IMO they're one of the best tires you can buy.

I was also going to do the same thing to my grille (I still have some mesh from when I did it to my Z) but my shears are dull now and I got tired of fooling with the mesh after I cut my finger.

Thanks! Yea I love my tires, when I first got them on I drove them on the freeway and I was squirming all over the place, and thinking what have I done?? But I guess now they have "broken in" and there smooth on the freeway....

And yes I did notice about 1-2 mpg drop mixed driving conditions, but no real difference in HP

techmen, nice build so far! I have a 2005 4R with a 3" Toytec lift and a 1" toytec BL. You'll definitely notice a drop in MPG once you get it up there. But I also did a CAI and a muffler so I have horrible MPG.

I notice you're from Portland. I'm moving to Portland next month! Would love to wheel with you sometime. I also used to work as a waterski/wakeboard instructor so I would love to check out the boat! I'll be looking for some wheeling and wakeboarding friends so PM if you ever wanna meet up.

so you said that you didnt get much rub from the tires? I am considering putting the same tires and size on my 2wd, but dont want issues with rubbing. the main reason i want them is because you can pick up a set with about 1000 miles or so on them from the jeep guys as they come stock on the new renegade or whatever its called. i have seen sets of 5 tires listed on craigslist for under $500.

i love the look of the tires, just not sure if its worth it on my 2wd. i may just start a thread about it. lol

Finished painting my rims black. Used plasti-dip, tried it out on my spare and thought it went on pretty nicely. So did the other rims (and yes it does peel off, so I can always go back to original if i need to)







So I set aside the center caps, forgot about them, and then just snapped them on without painting them as well...

Should I leave them as is?

Or paint them black too??

Looks great! I would definitely leave the center caps as is and those tires make me drool! I really love aggresive-looking tires on modern SUVs... something with the contrast between the smooth, clean lines of the vehicle and the rough-looking knobbies!
