Navi Override ver7.1 4Runner '04

I have a '04 4Runner and just updated the Nav system to ver7.1

Is there any way to override the lockout fuction to input directions while the car is in motion?

The only way to do it is to make a navigation disk with the newer version mapping software, but the older version operating software on the same disk. Otherwise, once you upgrade, you'll lose the ability to override the motion lockout.

Do a search on this forum and you'll find plenty of specific information on this.

I have both discs but do not have the capability to burn the dual layer disc required.

I was hoping there was another way to make this happen.

goto to the screen where DVD is written on the top right.
while on that screen touch the top left, then bottom left, then top left, then bottom left, then bottom right. you should then go into the override screen. press and hold down override button for about 3 seconds. Let me know if it works.

This will no longer work with newest update. Only solution at this point is to burn the hybrid DL disc.

If you load the version (5.1?) disk with the bypass on it, you can remove the disk and replace it with the latest disk to get updated data. The firmware only loads when the Nav looses power...

This must be repeated every time you loose power.

On the nav screen, touch the dvd button on the top right hand corner. You will then go to the screen that shows what version you have. now touch the top left corner, then bottom left corner, then top left corner, then bottom left corner, and lastly bottom right corner. you will then be in the overide screen. Hold down the override button for about 5 seconds. Done.

I can get to the override screen per your instructions but the override button does not respond.

I had a question regarding this procedure. On the lower right hand corner of the DVD version screen I have a button saying coverage area. In order to access the override menu, the lower right hand corner must be pressed according to the instructions previously given. Can this be done with the existing button present or is this not correct for the 7.1 version navigation disc?
