Kind of confused... I have gone to the link
Toyota 4Runner Factory Navigation Map Update Information

I looked up the info needed. My current version is 2.1 which came with the 2003 Limited 4runner. I would like to update this. From the chart I have a gen 2-3. Does this mean I can only get up to version 3.1 on my unit? Or can I get version 12.1 with no problem? Please advice. Thanks!

I'm confused too. Call your dealer and tell them you have a Gen3 NAV (2003 4Runner with NAV), I'm pretty sure you can get the updated DVD, but in YOUR version navigation software. My dad HAD a 2001 Lexus RX with NAV and had it updated in 2010, so I don't see why you can't get an updated DVD for your runner.

You can jump right to ver 12.1 which is the latest available currently. Just make sure you stick with the Gen 2/3 specific disc.

Buy from JA, I trust his discs are better than those on eBay.

I bought one from eBay and it was crap, lasted 3 months. The eBay guy seems to change his seller name about that often too avoiding returning or supporting his product.

Update Nav for 2012 4Runner w/Entune

Does anyone know how the upgrade to the Nav maps work for the Entune receivers that came with the 2012 4Runners? I have a disc but it won't recognize it. I am wondering if I need to use a USB key do to the upgrade. Also if I can copy the data off of the DVD and onto the USB and make it work.

Thanks!

Purchased! Version 16.1 (for myself and my mother's ES)

JUST MIGHT be last version from Toyota, but who knows. I doubt it.

DVD Error

Reviving an old thread. Idk if this relevant, but this the best thread I could find with somewhat pertaining to my problem. My parents for Christmas one year bought me an updated Disc for my 2003 Limited. It came in a simple sleeve and just has Toyota Naviagsripn written on it. Not sure where it came from. After a few months my navigation stopped working all together. A received an error that said something along the lines of “Unable to read data. Check DVD.” I disconnected the battery and nothing. Popped the old DVD in and still nothing. Reset the system again by disconnecting the batter and nothing. Well I took it to the dealership and they said that they have never seen that error before and don’t know what to do but we can diagnose it for $100. I said no and have been sitting with no Navi for about a year. Everything else works fine but I can’t load the map at all. Thinking the unofficial disc might have uploaded a software update that the headunit can’t read or maybe the dvd reader itself is crapping out. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
