Navigation Unit Swap

I have a 2003 Sport V8 with the JBL non Navi head unit and I have found an OEM head unit with Navi that I am considering purchasing. I have a couple of questions. What do I need other than the head unit? Isn't there a gps cable and box that goes in the rear storage compartment? How do I find out if it is compatible with my 4runner?

Yes, there is a nav unit that goes in the back under the panel on the right, I don't know about the antenna, but there are swap threads on here, do a search

JBL Navi swap for JBL Non Navigation

I have an 05 V8 Sport with the JBL Non Navigation.

Considering the OEM JBL Navigation swap but was wondering if:

Is it the same wiring harness???Plug and Play? Does it affect the steering wheel controls? Is there a navigation antenna or box needing to be installed externally? Do I need to install a microphone?

If I buy the JBL OEM Navi unit, will it or should it come with all these?

I can usually find all my answers pretty easy on the forum but everyone seems to think there's a difference between the 05 and 06.

Any help would be greatly appreciated:bat:

Hooked up an e7009 to my 05, it was pnp. In order to get the BT and rear camera to work, I will have to run some extra wires. I also had to order the 26pin plug.

Basically the 06+ are prewired for the extras that were introduced in 06, the 05 is not. the 05 does not have the separate gps unit in the rear. But sound wise, the 05 are pnp w the 06+ units

This info is all over this forum if you search around a bit. I know, cause I had to do it to figure out what I needed.
