Need a muffler and tail pipe, what to buy...

How's the tailpipe working out for you, although this northeast winter has been extremely mild so far.

Hopefully the weather stays like this until I can repair my OEM tailpipe, need to weld on some metal on what's left of the flange then grind it flat. In hindsight if I knew I'd be slacking on repairing my exhaust I would've just gotten the whole exhaust from that ebay seller.

Its slightly oxidized but for the price I honestly can not complain. As I didnt expect it not oxidize some. Its only been about a year so time will tell. I rather run OEM but they just go insane on their exhaust pricing.

All these flanges rot off. Nobody wants to make them out of semi or high grade stainless steel.

I never tried the exhaust that goes with this tailpipe yet. Somehow my Walker muffler is still intact. I expected it a few months to go after my tailpipe did. But its still on there with no holes.

My napa cat back system is aluminized and still looking good after at least 5 years and around 25,000 miles.

I installed this one in August 2016.

So far so good. It was a rough fit to start, but I think it has a few more years in it. This is the Cali. version (NOT CARB-approved).

I installed Walker #55054 back in August. Considering it's been a whole 6 months, so far, so good. That said, notice that I'm in Colorado and it'll probably never rust.
I re-used the tailpipe section as there was nothing wrong with it and bought new gaskets (including one for the o2).

I never tried painting exhaust. I just know around here they will not last. Other environments maybe different results.

That's the bolts. You could get that to reseal if you cut the bolts off and put a new oem gasket with high temp jb weld and crush it all together. Granted, be better being welded or new flange. But my Tetanus is about 10x worse then that at its flange is sealed. I dont see why the ebay wont work I only have the tailpipe at the moment and it's been on there for almost a year

Worst case is yes cut to fit. My 98 exhaust looks pretty close placement as my 01 exhaust but a PO really screwed up that exhaust. I never measured or anything so they may slightly be longer etc.

I have both the muffler and tail pipe that I got on ebay, I've only had them on for this winter, and I painted both with high temp exhaust paint. So far no complaints, barely any surface rust on them.

I will put on one Tetanus 1 once the Walker goes as I figure one of these days it will be toast..

I know in the rust belt, don't expect the walker exhaust to last too long as my 02 camry didnt make 4 years before the walker was junk.. I got a replacement walker but if I had a choice between playing around with exhausts or just putting one on and forgetting about it. I would choose forgetting about it with a quality ones if they even exist besides OEM.

no issues, very happy with the quality for what I paid. My only real complaint would be that the gaskets included with the exhaust started leaking after maybe 5k miles, but I replaced them with some parts store gaskets and they are still going strong

My 96 Saturn would go through that Walker SS quiet flow every 3 years. Back when I had the 96 only the innards were SS. I remember a lot of sales and rebates from amazon on them. I went through 3 of them before it got totaled for a can of red bull.

My 02 Saturn has the factory system yet. Knock on wood.......

Do you have a two cat system? Is the muffler sound pretty close to OEM?

I really hate messing with exhausts (I guess that's true for everyone) and a stainless(ish) option for $170 is a damn good deal. I don't know if I can stomach the $300+ for a Gibson or the other higher quality options.

I only have the single cat, I replaced that as well with an ebay unit but it eventually became clogged and I just gutted it and made an o2 sim. my exhaust was pretty trashed when I got the vehicle so I can't really make a good comparison to OEM but it is pretty quiet, and was even quieter with an intact cat.

I hope you do gets your money worth. maybe it was just my rig but I wasn't impressed when my walker tail pipe rusted off in less then 4 years and walker dont warranty the tail pipes. So with my Camry exhaust walker rotting off in 4 years and my 4 runner tailpipe rotting off in 4 years. I am just thinking that I may need a little better quality for this area. :/

I think my main threat to longevity is short trips. Most of my destinations
are within 2 miles.

Yes Virginia is better climate. I still think the freeze thaw ratio in PA causes alot of issues too. Plus the fact the Penn Dot thinks our roads should be pure salt white all winter long.
