It is amazing how similar this unit is to the factory NAVs. My denso unit has very similar menus as the Eclipse. I wonder if they licensed the same software to run the User Interface.

The T4R factory nav is manufactured by Fujitsu Ten, the same company that manufactures Eclipse.

Reptile...why would the AVIC-D1 not be able to play DVD's? I don't see why Pioneer would make that without the capability to play dvd's built in.

Pioneer designed this for the "Super Commuter", (I didn't pick the catch phrase). A person who isn't worried about all the accessories, spends a lot of time in their car and travels from appointment to appointment . They figure the person who needs video up front will step up to the new Avic-N2. More importantly, it keeps the price of the unit down to attract a brand new customer. That being said, The D1 has a/v inputs so you could simply add a PS2 in that little space in the glove compartment and have entertainment as well as movies. It also has split screen so you could have nav and ps2 on screen at the same time (use rear camera input to do this). The D1 also has an enhaced XM radio format where it will show the logo's for each XM station and the full titles of songs and artists. It also plays WMA which the N1 and N2 don't. The D1 doesn't come out until April. I'm working on a somewhat elaborate system with the D1 as the center piece and I hope to post pictures by 3rd week of May. Wow, that was a long answer for a simple question...
