Need advice on an upcoming truck purchase

I have started to look into buying a truck and I have decided that I want a first gen Toyota 4Runner but I wanted some advice on things such as what year is the best and what problems certain years had, as well as some advice on certain deals that I find on craigslist and maybe yall can give me some feedback on whether or not it`s a good deal and what price I should go for. Any amount of help would be greatly appreciated. I live in the Houston area and I am hoping I can find one here.

You want a 1985 with a 22re! Solid axle front end and fuel injection! Whatever you do, stay away from the 3.0 V6! lol

2nd this. 1985 SA is awesome for wheeling. Gen 1 will be more expensive, if it is in decent shape. I have a V6, its alright........ but I baby it. you will be more happy in gas and performance wise from the 22re. 87 turbos are cool but more temperamental. Check for rust leaks and if its been wrenched on a lot or not

You will be happy with a Gen 1 and I will be jealous that you have one :thumb:
