THis is my first post so, I am looking for help in deciding which 05 4Runner to buy. I am looking seriously at the Sport Edition but cannot decide whether to get the 6 or 8. Any help would be appreciated.

Also this will be my first Toy to buy, so any insite is greatly needed.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

The Sport Edition is a great choice :D. If you do a search, you'll see that it's a hotly debated topic whether to get a v6 or a v8. I have the v8 but I have future plans to tow stuff (car and trailer).

If you don't think you're going to tow or tow light stuff (snowmobiles, bikes, etc) either will work for you. Gas mileage is about the same for both from what I've heard.

If you work on your own cars, the v6 is a bit easier to work on (at least that's what it looked like and was one of my concerns). I usually do all the maintenance on my cars myself so that's what I determined by just looking at the engine compartment. Underneath will be the same for either engine.

Either way, you really can't go wrong. This is my first Toyota too and in the 2+ months I've had it, I'm liking it more and more. I bought it just before the '05 v8 was available and I got a great deal since it was on the lot and it was the end of the month ($1200 under invoice after rebates). I really wanted the higher hp '05 but with the deal they gave me, I couldn't resist. I was indifferent with the 4Runner at first. I've been using it as my daily driver and the more I drive/use it, the more I love it.

I really appreciate the advice. THe only thing I really plan on towing with my 4Runner will be my weekend ride, a 2003 GSXR 750. SO the weight will be negligable.

The only thing that blows is that I have to wait another 2 1/2 months to buy it.

I want the SE, Black with a moonroof.

The other mods I'll end up doing myself after I get her home.

Thanks again for the response.
