you were comparing the new 5.0 though and a Lightning? come on, i get it youre a Ford guy but compare apples to apples, or at least other fruit.

I don't normally feed the trolls but why are you on a 4runner forum blathering about Ford pickup trucks?
My wife has a Ford. It's a Freestyle. It's not your truck it's a mom mobile, but if the fit, finish and reliability are indicative of the trucks...
And what happened to the Ranger? I don't follow the pickup truck sphere of news but did they just decide to not even compete in the same class as the Tacoma and Frontier?
Or maybe you're one of those guys that doesn't feel like its not a real truck unless it has rubber testicles hanging from the hitch.

America's big 3 have always ruled the full size truck segment and Toyota and other Japanese companies have always ruled the compact truck segment. GM did good with the LUV but we would have to go to Mexico to get one.

Ha! I just looked up the optional 5.4L you're happy on and it's a supercharged option. Why pick that and ignore the standard and comparable 4.6L? But really, if you're gonna bring up Mustangs and Supercharged pickups, why not just start a new thread comparing those class of cars because the 4Runner isn't really in those categories.

For the same years, 03 and 04, the 4.6 put out 294 ft lbs and the 5.4 put out 350. The Toyota 4.7 put out 306. Ok end of story.
I just joined this site a week ago to learn more about the 4runners as I just got mine back on the road. I'm a ford guy through and through, but also have a 2010 limited. If rebelbowtie had been more specific, and less incorrect, I think we could have forgone the cyber-babble.

That's cool. King Ranch is a fancy name I guess. Perhaps they could have just named it "more standard options than usual, with some unique features F-150"

It's the power delivery, the fords peak torque on the 4.6 is almost a 1,000rpm higher than the 2uz and no comparable Ford SUV comes equipped with the 5.4. If the OP were looking at a comparable Ford it's be a v8 powered Explorer and lets face it that is not even close to the same vehicle as a 4Runner.
Having owned trucks from all of the big 3 that the Toyota 2uz has a very impressive power delivery. Like I said the "seat of the pants" power is comparable to my LQ4 which will skull drag any comparable Ford engine. Truck Trend even had an article where they hooked a 10,000lb trailer to the big three's biggest petrol engine equipped HD trucks and the 6.0 Chevy out pulled the Triton V10. With a truck you want the meat of the power band down low, not almost 5,000rpm's like it is on the mod motors.
Do you even own a v8 Toyota or are you making assumptions based on a v6?

The 8 wasn't available for my 2010... I am just making a blanket statement regarding domestic vs import. No need to get your panties in a bunch. We're all here to talk about these little jap SUVs, not piss at each other about my favorite vehicle
