Need Help Have no heat !

my 85 runner dlx has no heat its anon ac model have been doing a mini restoration and finally had it out after doing a major overhaul with 1" master/ v6 booster and many other upgrades finally took it out for a spin no heat runs and drives awesome , found the cable off the valve on firewall and valve was seized up freed the valve up and reconnected the cable but still no heat, the hose gets hot upto the valve but no further , i have bottom panels off dash for radio install and cant find the source of the blue cable to control the valve so im moving it manually. anyone have this issue with a 1st gen ? please help ive searched and found the heater core can be flushed or???
im in Pittsburgh and its 20s here so im dying to get the truck to heat up also temp gauge reaches middle nicely fresh antifreeze flush done as well any suggestions would be helpful :thanks:

Sounds like it's clogged post valve man. Take it off and visibly check the hose to the core.

By post valve you mean the valve thats on the firewall ? :noidea:

You said your hose gets hot up to the valve so if it's cold after the valve that would indicate the valve is not working or its clogged.

So i pulled the heater core hoses and flushed it also made sure the heater control valve free flows still have no heat let truck idle for 20 min maybe getting cold air air with drop of heat there are no leaks of anykind dont know whats left to try any ideas would be appreciated

Park the truck on a smaller hill with the radiator facing up the hill as level as possible. Then burp the hoses and fill coolant. This should remove the air in the lines.

Easiest test to do for checking if there's air in the heater core. While driving, engine already warmed up, heater on cold setting. slide heater to heat (however you're doing this, do it quickly). If you hear a gurgling sound, you have air in the system.

Like BadVision said, park it on an incline, I like to have my truck on a HUGE incline, AND use ramps (inclinometer usually shows about 20º +), just to make sure that front end is in the air as high as possible. While cold, open rad cap, put heater to FULL HEAT, start engine, wait for thermostat to pop open, you'll see the water rush by in the radiator when it does. rev engine a couple of times slightly, doesn't take much, say 2,000rpm.

put cap back on and take it for a drive.flipping between hot and cold should not make any gurgling sounds, if it does, do the whole thing again.

do both heater hoses get hot now?
if yes, I suspect the blend door is disconnected. the selector may be going to the HOT side, but the door is staying in position as if it were on COLD. likely the cable is unhooked.

slide under the dash, and while watching the heater box, slide the selector between hot and cold slowly. you should be able to see the movement.

as of right now, I cant remember which side the blend door is on, so check both the driver, and passenger sides of the heater box.

thanks for the reply tried burping a few times have no gurgling took t stat out boiled it works perfect , 188 or so im thinking the vent door like you nev but when i flip from hot to cold i hear a shutter inside the dash i had the dash torn apart and the blue cable that connects to the heat valve in the engine compartment was unhooked when i began this process and the valve was seized u i got all that figured ou but still no heat, when i switch hot to cold if the cable was unhooked would i still hear the vents move ? also im thinking since i got slight luke warm air after heater core flush i may have not backflushed it i did a quicky im going to clr it and go for 10 or 15 min see if that helps
