Need help installing electric fans...AC wiring??

I'm in the process of installing a set of electric fans on my 4Runner with an over sized Al raditor. All was going well until I got to the wiring part. Instructions state I need to attach the green wire to the positive (hot) side of the AC compressor's wiring? This is so when I turn on the air conditioning...the electric fans are turned on also.

Unfortunately, I don't have a wire diagrams...and have no idea where to splice into? Do you look for wiring on the compressor itself...if so, which wire? I thought about attaching my wire at the fuse box under the hood where it's mark AC. Is this wire hot when you turn on the air conditioning...and stays hot??

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Also, please be advised...I'm installing my SC at the same time; therefore, I can't run my engine to test for hot wires with the AC on? Promise..not trying to be lazy..lol!!

check the compressor, there should be 2 wires. one should come right out, and ground onto the bracket, the other is the hot wire. tap into that one.

Wow...that helps immensely. You have no idea how much this helps me!! Now, I can get up confidently in the morning and finish up my wiring with ease. Thank you Sir...have a good evening!

check the compressor, there should be 2 wires. one should come right out, and ground onto the bracket, the other is the hot wire. tap into that one.

Actually, I think there is only one wire to the clutch (white with green stripe on a 2002.) It grounds internally through the case.

How many fans did you install in front of the condenser? I removed two fans I had because the mechanical fan is more than sufficient to pull plenty of air through the condenser and radiator. Didn't notice a difference before and after the AC fans.

Did you use a relay to turn on the fans? If not, your AC relay may get fried pretty soon. You can use a pulse from the AC clutch to turn on a relay and then it can power the AC fans.

If you install 2 fans, remove one because these fans will obstruct the air flow.

Also check your battery charging voltage with fans, AC, headlights, wipers on.

Hey guys. Yes I installed two electric fans in place of my mechanical one. While doing so...I also installed a two pass aluminum radiator. I bought it from a member with a V-8 4th gen 4Runner. He paid $1500+ for the whole set up. I paid considerably less for it. Very nice set up...if it kept his V-8 cool in the desert on slow trail rides...it should do the same for my V-6. I'll be happy to keep yall posted if I do have any over heating problems.

As far as the installation of the fans...yes I used relays and a fan control box...that allows me to control what temperature to have fan #1 come on and then 10* later fan #2 kicks on. I wired the fans to a on-off-on switch. The top "on" allowes the fans to run automatically. The "Off" shuts everything down for water crossings or ??? The bottom "on" switch acts as an over-ride switch and turns both fans on...no matter what the temperature is.
