Ok so the short part.

Will the injectors out of a T100(97) with a 3.4 work in a 99 4Runner with a 3.4.

All the wires match up, the length on the injector is the same also. The only real difference I see is the the gaskets which I have new ones for that issue. Take a look and educate me.

I'm just thinking will the ECU remap with more flue flowing? Will there be any major difference? I'm thinking it is still a 3.4 at the end of the day.

Lets hear it. I'm in the middle of doing this so hope I'm not going to regret it!

My best guess: a 5VZFE is a 5VZFE is a 5VZFE. I doubt there is any difference in the injectors. I doubt you will see gains though either. The engine is one of those things I pretty much leave alone in my wheeler. Someday I might have a supercharger for the snow runs. While I think it would be awesome and tons of fun, it's not high up on the list.

There are a few people who might know ..... TheDurk for example.

The only real difference I see is the the gaskets which I have new ones for that issue

To me ... those two parts don't look the same at all. They look similar, the same way that spark plugs can look similar but there are visible differences. For example one has 2 holes at the end and the other has 4.

From my experience, they will NOT.

The connectors are different.

You need 99-00 injectors.

I say this, because when I didn't my 4WD conversion, my harness was ripped apart. I got a harness from a 98 limited. The harness didn't connect to the injectors.

Now, this is a Runner, not a T100. So don't quote me.

There's also different specs for the injectors. Best bet is to just go with the '99 limited injectors.

i checked the harness and they connect and fit. now the plastic tip is just that, i broke one and looked at the other. they are the same other than one has two holes and the other sprays a little different. I'll keep you posted on this all. Either way I'm driving it in the morning to work so it will run one way or another.

The main issue was a cracked plug in cylinder number 3! That is now fixed also.

Back to work

Update:

Well after a long night finished at around 2:30 this morning she is running well.

The injectors have no leaks at all(note I used all new gaskets on them also when I put them back in). The miss is gone all together that I had.

Main issue for my P0300 codes. Cracked plug(the porcelain). Big lessened learned with the motor. Do not use after market plugs, one they suck. Two it is more work fixing the stuff after they break.

Next question for you all, how the F dose that happen other than it was just a total crap plug. Yes it was a bosh ( i know I should have known better in the first place:happens:)

On my test drive home from the place I fixed it the truck ran great. amazing what happens when you are getting spark in all cylinders. The throttle response was great too. Now I hope I get back up to 20MPG soon.

I'll post the picture of the plug later for you guys, you will like it.

Rockauto has the same part numbers for fuel injectors for a '96 4Runner and a '95 T100.

After looking at them really close the only real difference I could see was Toyota went to an all plastic injector at some point ( I broke one of the tips off in the injector post because they were corroded so bad, fing plastic). The ones I put in were still medal. All the important things were all in the same place. I know because I got out a set of calipers and took measurement off both of them, lol. The only thing that threw that off was the gaskets thickness.

From the Rock Auto site, it looks like Toyota changed the injector style in 99 on the 3.4 (both 4Runner and T100 show the larger style for pre-99). If they flow differently the ECM would learn the values for normal driving, but it might be rich or lean at WOT. My guess is that Toyota switched suppliers in 99 or some new regulation went into effect that they couldn't meet with the older model.

I have had a plug crack on me (not OEM to the auto) due to a bad arching wire. I have also had a plug drop on me after a fuel injector stopped working on me for the same cylinder.

Other than a Bosch battery and windshield wipers, nothing Bosch should be used on a 3rd gen. Never, unless one is using the part to get the 4runner up and running to sell.

New or used OEM is the only way to go for me if I want to keep a car or truck for a long time.

Keep up updated with how those injectors are working for ya.

I also try and adhere to the old saying for tracking down misfires, misses: Look at ignition first, then fuel, then compression.

It has always worked for me.

I think they won't work. You'll probably get s code. When I did my JDM swap. Which is different then yours. I kept the Jdm injectors. And it ran like shit. Swapped the injectors and fixed the issue. They were different

I have looked for Denso replacement injectors and could not find them on NAPA, RockAuto, Advance Auto sites - the Denso website indicates that they do not make an injector for my 2000 3.4L T4R. I see some on e-bay, alibaba and third party sellers on Amazon and they are inexpensive. Could these Denso injectors be counterfeit? Ended up buying a Beck/Arnley injector. WitchHunter has the following statement on their home page - "We are starting to see quite a few Chinese made injectors that are junk, most have the factory part number and not the correct logo. Be careful when purchasing so-called, new injectors for a very low cost."

Very likely fakes, or more precisely they're parts that failed testing during production, and should have been scrapped, but were smuggled out and sold on the black market.

I work in automotive manufacturing, and this is becoming more and more of a problem.

One of the customers I deal with makes the sensors that trigger air bags to deploy in a crash. They manufacture the parts here for everything being built in N. America, but they have plants in Europe and China to support those markets. The production equipment is the same at all the facilities, and the parts are pretty much the same, with the exception of some markings on the case.

They started seeing accidents where the bags should have gone off and didn't, and the investigations revealed that the sensors had been produced at one of the China plants, but failed functional testing. All the vehicles that had this issue had been previously crashed and repaired with parts from questionable sources to save money. Somehow those bad parts were getting funneled into the black market instead of being trashed.

They've implemented tighter controls to stop it, because safety equipment that doesn't work right is a HUGE liability, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if less critical things are getting out it much higher numbers. Some of the parts are 100% functional, and just have minor cosmetic defects, so the sellers get away with it a lot, but some of them are just outright defective and you're getting screwed. Especially when it's a safety system that you can't really test in the field.
