need help: rear winch? no armor

need some advice on this subject,

looking to be able to tow some cars that are not drivable, and I need to install a winch of some sort to the rear of the 4runner. I do not have any armor or steel rear bumper and do not intent to get one, anyone know of any option or have done something similar?

Most people use those hitch reciever mounted winch plates like this.

ya i saw that one, I was planning to tow on a trailer/flatbed and was worried if i had this hooked up, soon as I try to winch the car up it might move the entire trailer instead? due to not beeing hooked up to the tow hitch.

I then thought maybe some stoppers under the wheel of the trailer, but I dont know if that will work.

Have you seen one like that but with an output for a tow ball?

Oh! Well in that case, why don't you mount the winch to your trailer? That's typically what is done.

Yikes! That's a tough one. You don't think a simple come-along would suffice for your application?

Or maybe hook a winch plate to the busted vehicle and snatch block to the trailer? That would be assuming that the vehicle has some sort of receiver and you can power the winch. I don't know, I'm just spit balling here...

You need a hitch draw bar (the part that slides into the hitch and has the ball on it. This draw bar needs to be long enough the also have a winch mounted on it. This way you can have the trailer connected and have the winch mounted too. The one issue will be, the winch cable may run/rub on the front of the trailer. You could protect the cable and trailer with a heavy mat or something.

Or. Have a small winch that hooks to the tow vehicle by webbing. This would allow the winch to work on top of the trailer.

I don't know if this will work since I am still in the planning stage but I am going to try mounting a winch on the inside of the back brace and enlarge the hole in the brace and run the winch through me have a hawse on both sides so the cable will stick out and the winch will be under the truck

Your desire sounds like my zackly.
It sound exactly like what I am doing.
I have a hand crank winch on one trailer and it wears me out pulling stuff onto the trailer.
It isn't too bad if it was just one or two pieces, but I may have a number to do.

I want a winch mounted on the receiver hitch and be able to have the trailer hitched up to it for pulling stuff on and towing. I have several tow vehicles and several trailers that I would like to be able to interchange.
I'm still trying to figure out what to do for recharging the battery. I am fine with just putting a battery in the back and jumper cabling some wires to the winch for power, for now.

I got a solid piece of 2" square metal that goes into the receiver on the vehicle. Slipped over a ways and welded onto the back end of this goes a piece of 2" i.d. tubing that turns the back end of this into a receiver hitch. I got 2 pieces of square tube about a foot long to weld sideways onto the square piece to mount the winch to. I think that the 2" up will be enough extra height to get the winch cable above the trailer hitch latch. If you have a larger vehicle with extra height, you might be able to use a drop down hitch so the ball and trailer latch would be lower anyway.

It looks like the total length might be about 2 feet long, I can't remember right now.
I hope that extra length isn't enough to really mess with towing the trailer.
I expect that there might be some slop in the two connections so a trailer could get squirrel-y.
I'm not going very far and I don't plan to need to go very fast so I am sure it will work for me.
