Need help tightening rear pro comp es9000 shocks

Hey guys, just got some new shocks put on the back and can't get the top shock nut tight without the whole top half of the shock spinning. Any tricks?

How tight are you going? The friction in the isolation rubber should be enough to stop rotation. Torque spec is only 168 in-lbs I believe

Hold the shaft with channel locks. Just be careful not to mar up the shaft with the tool.

Lock them on as high up as you can. If you have a big enough pair they spin around until they hit the frame, and then you don't have to hold them.

Sorry but I would never clamp onto a new shock's rod. The smallest nick will destroy the seals as soon as they go over that nick.

Every time I do shocks on one of these I use this method. I wrap the shaft with one of those things you use to loosen tight lids on jars, works like a charm.

I've used a strap wrench, they work. A vise grip with a couple thin pieces of wood or leather to protect the shock works too.

I think he is referencing the housing, not the shock compression shaft.
