Need help!!!! Time critical regarding first 4Runner purchase.

Great decision.
Before my 4R, I never would have considered a 7 year old vehicle with 96K on the odo. But it was mint in, out, and under - with one exception, see below - and my mechanic’s exact words were, “Ninety-six thousand on a 4Runner? It’s just getting started.”
I did discover the same issue you did with the 4WD actuator. The sales manager turned pale when I told him b/c somehow they had missed it. As the manager drove it around to the Service Dept., the salesman said, “We usually send them straight to auction when that happens because it’s so expensive to fix.”
We worked out a deal where they added 25% of the dealer cost for the repair to the purchase price. Their cost was $1,300 so our share was a little over $300. That seemed fair, and considering our year-plus search and the price still being under Blue Book, we went ahead and that was exactly the right choice. Almost four years and 50K later, couldn’t be happier that we waited for the right one.
I would stay away from that vehicle. If your in the market for a V6 here one in Wisconsin with 77,317 miles undercarriage is solid for a midwest vehicle. This is at a small dealership. If your interested in some pictures in the undercarriage I can stop by and snap some pictures.

NO, NO, NO, definitely fall in love with low mileage...BUT make sure the rest of the vehicle lives up to the low mileage on all counts, and wait until you wheel and deal to get the best price you can and as you walk out the door with the keys to your beautiful T4R go and give it a big hug and lots of kisses!!!

OP, glad you decided to pass. Yes, that rusty underbelly was rough. I know it's tough, but try to stay more local so you can reasonably travel to see it. Another option, I suppose, would be if you were to find a couple (or more) in a region that might be a longer travel distance so you could then make a mini "car inspection vacation" out of it.... Maybe? Does that sound nuts? IDK, I'm not one to do a remote deal on a car. Also, does it have to be a 4th gen? I didn't like the 5th gens looks, but they've grown on me so when my 08 is ready for the pasture I might just go that way. Personally, I miss my pickup so I'm leaning towards a Taco for my next truck but that bridge is a long way off... hopefully... 
Speaking of.... would a Taco be a consideration? Just thinking of how to cast a wide net for choices and still stay with a quality Yota.

Low miles are great, only when accompanied by a condition that matches.
A well maintained 150+K 4th gen T4R is noting to be afraid of.
I'm no pro... But this? I'd run fast and far away from it. That frame looks like crap for that mileage, no matter the originating geographical locale.
