How do you know for sure that it's the tranny? If I were you I'd try a few more of the listed things above such as the fuel filter and spark plug wires just to be sure, even though you said the wires looked fairly new. Best of luck, and keep us updated.

He said its either torque converter or tranny. So now wtf?? Grrrrrr

The rad car is the radiator cap, do NOT take that off while the engine is hot, I would say let it sit all night long then take it off, NEVER take the rad cap off while the engine is warm/hot, unless you want 3rd degree burns.

ok so for clarification i caller her last night and talked to her about it ect. it has been slowly starting to do this more and more and getting worse and worse over the past few weeks or so. with the truck in neutral or park and revving it up, there are no issues, its only when there is a load on the vehicle. and the whole vehicle shakes/shutters. to me it dose sound like the transmission from what and how she was describing it. i had her pull the radiator cap, and it was all clean and green, so no pink milkshake. the truck has 350K+ miles on it. im suspecting the tranny just cause its at the end of its life anyways. she said the fluid was a redish color and not brown or burnt so thats good, no one "burnt up" the tranny but 350K on a tranny, its had a good long life no matter what vehicle its in.

i recomend finding a new trans(used) trans from a wrecked truck say something thats been rolled ect. with preferably under 200k on it, but as we all know finding these rigs with low mileage is getting hard to do.
she needs a 2wd tranny and at least they are cheaper than a 4wd, but they are harder to find as the majority of 4runners where 4wd. also she needs the tranny from a v6.

well no im not 100% sure its the tranny. but someone looked at it last night and he said the wires and coils looked fine. he said it was either tranny or torque converter.

yes timing belt was replaced before i bought it.

it only has to sit for maybe 30-40 min to cool off/de-pressurise enough to pull the cap. it does not have to sit all night. and if you have only just moved the vehicle around and its been running under 5 min, it has not had the time to warm up enough to build full pressure. if there are any concerns about if its too hot or not, touch the top of the radiator quickly several times to test how hot it is, if its hot to the touch and almost burnt you then yeah its too hot, but if you can put your hand on the radiator itself and keep it there you can open the cap. if you are still concerned about it being too hot then you can turn/rotate the cap about half way and that will remove some pressure on the spring and let the radiator vent off pressure.

it was cooled off enough and i was able to take cap off...no 3rd degree burns here! lol

Make sure the crank bolt for the timing belt was torqued down to 217ft/lb. If it was not, then problems can arise.

If the transmission is shifting fine, (runs through the gears without clunking, etc,), I'd would think it is OK. Is there any jerky shifting or the like?

no, there's no jerky shifting or clanking noises. feels like it shifts ok...
when accelerating it shudders like im driving over gravel. im gonna try to go to this place nearby and see if they will test it...friend said they will "diagnosis" it for free. but as usual im sure they will try to tell me the worst 'being a female and not knowing what im talking about' lol

this sounds really hard to diagnose, it runs fine through the rpm range under 0 load, it shifts fine with no thuds clanks and the rest, fluid looks good in the tranny....... i'm leaning more towards u-joint and drive line issues......the information we're getting here for diagnosis it very weak, it makes it hard to figure out what the heck is going on.....first it's the engine then it's the trans then it's not the trans again.....:nono:
