need help with 3rd gen! what lift, wheels, and tires!?

so i'm new to the forum and i got a 98 4runner that's going to need tires in a month or so and i figured i would just lift her and put some decent rubber on her while i'm at it and do it right but i'm not sure if i want to do the tundra wheels and just spray them gunmetal like everybody else. do you think it would look good with the color i got?

another problem i got is i cant decide if i want to go with 285/65/17 bfgoodrich all terrains or some km2's. i do a fair amount of driving and i was leaning towards the all terrains but the km2's just look soooo damn good!

I'm a huge fan of the BFG All Terrains. They can take some abuse and stand up to wear very well. I'm struggling with lifts myself. I'm thinking Toytec is the way to go after all of the research that I've done. I also have a set of the Sequoia wheels in hyper silver that I absolutely love. I'm currently hunting for another set for my '00 Limited.

for the Lift get Toytec if your on a budget
If your pockets are deep go SAW, Icon King or Fox

For the wheels if your on a budget get the above mentioned sequoia wheels Level 8 forgot what they are called but here they are


If you're not not on a budget go with the Konig CounterSteer's or FN wheels

ya i was planning on going with the Toytech 3" old man emu lift, wheels are just my problem at this point now. im in college so not looking to spend too much on wheels that's why i want to put the tundra wheels on it i just dont know if it will look good or not because i haven't seen very many 4runners the same color as mine that look good

Not quite the same color, but just to give you an idea. I think I paid $225 for my rims with a set of tires that I got another 25k out of. I even got $125 for my stockers! It looks even better now since I added the 265/70/17 BF Goodrich AT's!

those wheels look real good on that rig, i gotta find some soon. I've been checking craigslist daily but nothin! ive also been looking into getting some procomps or something with the same style as the 8069's

The pro comp 7069s are nice. They are what I have on my 4R. Running the ToyTec Boss lift and I love it. I had BFG A/Ts and they are a very nice wheel. Long lasting tread too.

7069's that's what i meant. but i think i might just go with tundra wheels if i can ever find em! they look pretty good when they are painted darker. still wish i could get a few more pics of people who put them on their 4runners even better if i could get one the same color as mine but its not a very common color

mine is a 2000 and i have a 2.5 daystar spacer lift on front and back with 265/70/18 nitto terra grapplers, and 18' moto metal 961's

i was looking into the daystar coil spacer lifts but don't you need to get bigger shocks?

The Toytec 3" lift is the best. I went with 891s in the back for hauling my dirtbike and because I figure the stiffer springs may extend their life.. For wheels and tires I can tell you the KM2's are going to be louder and wear quicker than the AT KO's.. I put the FJ 6spoke wheels on mine also because they look beefy as hell and left enough room to comfortably put the 231mm Tundra rotors behind them.. Picked up the FJ rims for 300 on craigslist, sold my stock ones for 250.. the tires ran about 1200 for 285/70r17 new.. BTW always buy new tires, I work in a tireshop and used tires are almost always messed up oone way or another. Also make sure you get the 1" diff Drop and an alignment as soon as everything is installed. Hope my .02 helps.
