Need help with this problem!!

I have noticed every so often that my runner will make a sound like a spring popping when coming to a stop. I feel it in my foot through the brake pedal when it happens. It feels like it has normal pedal pressure, then it like stops for a split second and then drops a little. Reminds me of how abs reacts but without pulsing the whole time. It does it very randomly too. Today the ABS light came on but my brakes felt fine. Then noise seems to be from the front right of the runner.

What do you think it would be or what should I look for?

Might be ur driveshaft slip yoke needs some grease.

Mine literally sounds like if you take a spring and stretch it then pluck it. Thats the noise. I am 2wd also if that helps

Sucks that you have such bad weather. Its been 80 degrees here for a while with sunshine.

Crawl under and take a good look to see if anything looks broken or bent. You may want to remove the tire to make sure that the caliper hardware is lubed and not binding.

I have this feeling/noise too.

I changed my upper and lower ball joints this past weekend and no change.

This weekend I am doing inner and outer tie rods. Will report if anything helps.

Also new sway bar bushings but I doubt this is the cause. Bought them anyways since they were a cheap and mine are just about done.

Lower control arm bushings, check them, very likely they are your culprit.

Sway bar end link? When slowing down and turning hard, like in a parking lot, mine had a sound like something metal was loose near the front right wheel. Stand on the passenger running board (or inside door), rock the car up and down a bunch, and have a buddy listen for the clunk.

Yeah I need to because its bothering me. It set off my abs light and now I have no abs light. So its confusing to me as well. I am going to have to investing gate some more but I will look at the suspension and caliper to be sure. Hopefully its nothing but needing to be lubed or something like that.

Maybe try and get the ABS to activate, then flush the brake fluid. There may be air in the caliper or in the ABS modulator.

These are great ideas. I will be looking. I know that the Master cylinder was just replaced so maybe there could be air in the line from improper brake bleeding.

Did you or the installer bench bleed the MC?

It sounds though that there is more than likely air trapped in the ABS modulator. As above, get the ABS to activate on a dirt road, then bleed the brakes.

I have no clue. Toyota did the work. I just bought this thing and this has been going on here and there. So you could be right. I will see about setting it off in my drive way. Its a long drive way!

Sorry to piss in your Cheerios but it's probably the bearing. You can remove the hub yourself but I'd have a shop press the new $80+ bearing in. Sucks man, I just did both my fronts, rears were done in the garage and much cheaper.

I just say this because when the bearing starts to fail it disintegrates and little metal frags stick to the magnetic ABS sensors.

So rip the abs sensors out with a 10mm. If they have metal debris then count on the bearing being the culprit.

What did you find out? What was the actual problem. I have the same noise and it was after brake work was done. Sounds like I have air in the ABS modulator as mentioned in the post.
