Need new tail lights that are decent quality

2003 4runner sport. Need new tail lights and would like to update it some.

Just abour all the led ones I see on amazon have bad reviews.

Hands down the safest answer is the OE replacements for the 06-09.

If you want to save a few bucks, and still not **** with sketchy taillights, get the Dorman versions which are decent enough. They're plug and play on the 03-05 trucks, use LEDs for the brake and running lights, and zero visibility issues with that design.

That sounds great. But are you sure the 06 to 09's would also fit the 2003

Not for my 4Runner, but I bought tail lights housings for my son's 2010 Rav4 from Rockauto, got the TYC brand and I can't tell the difference in them compared to the OEM housing, they're exactly the same.

Ive broken a few taillight housings backing into things and I feel like everytime I order an aftermarket - DORMAN, TYC, EAgle Eyes - its ends up being the same brand - eagle eyes.

Sometimes the metal contacts arent great where the taillights plug into, but otherwise, the quality seems fine to me.

Id go for whatever aftermarket one you find at a good value with a good warranty

I too have aftermarket LED. I’ve had them for a few years without issue. Like stated above the metal contacts can be an issue at first, I just gently pried them out for better contact and never had an issue since install.

That sounds great. But are you sure the 06 to 09's would also fit the 2003

I've got the Dorman LEDs on my 05. Zero issues with install and no functional issues since I installed them back in December 2021.
