Switching to AT tires. Need help

I have a 2007 2wd SR5. I need to replace my tires (unfixable flat) so I need to buy atleast 2 tires.

Any discounts at discounttire for forum members?

I live in the south but usually have to drive in 3-5 inches of snow 1-2 per year when traveling. A dedicated winter/snow tire doesn't make sense for me but I was thinking that maybe an AT tire would be a good compromise (plus look better imo).

Here are my options in now particular order.
1) Yokohama Geolander A/T-S $160 a tire
2) Cooper Discover A/T3 $148 a tire
3) Hankook Dynapro ATM $163 a tire
4) Falken Rock Mountain $120 a tire
5) BF Goodridge Rugged Terrain T/A $158 a tire
6) Goodyear Duratracs $195 tire (more than i want to spend)


My Criteria:
1) snow traction
2) price. the lower the better
3) road noise (current tires are noisey for all season)


I have owned 2 sets of tires with the 4runner. The OEM Bridgestone duelers and General Grabber HTS. The General tires have better traction in snow than OEM BUT are much noisier for some odd reason. The hum/whine while driving. My brother-in-law has mud tires on his truck and those are quiter than the Generals??

Im running the BFG rugged terrains on a first gen in North Florida. Now ive often compared driving in soft sugar sand to driving in snow and these tires are amazing at the soft sand without airing down below 35psi. road noise isnt bad with proper balance and alignment either.

I did have the falkens on my diesel and it did not do well in the sand. mostly due to the extreme weight of the truck though i believe.

Best tires for the money are easily the Falken Rocky Mountain/Wild Peak AT. They are very good in the snow, mud and sand. Additionally the ride is very quiet and comfortable. I have over 50,000 miles on my set and should be able to get another 5-10,000 miles before replacement. I will buy another set.

I have some general grabbers 2 I am selling if interested but a great place to purchase tires for cheap is treadwright . com they are retread but I get about 50,000 out of them and they are really cheap for the tread. They also offer a 15% military discount!!

I have the at3' s and I've been impressed by them in the mud. Hasn't rained yet so I can't vouch for them in the rain.
