Need new tires: suggestions?

Hey guys im in need of some new tires and thinking ill spend a little tax return money.

Im looking for a 265-70-17, I have a daystar 2.5/1.5 lift on it. I don't offroad, just looking for a decent looking/cost efficient tire that is good on highway/rain/snow.

any thoughts on this? Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct(im liking the 50k mile warranty and price)


Anyone know of any good deals going on at the moment for decent tires?

You have PLENTY of choices. Maybe some of us can chime in and give an opinion.

From my personal experience I am running the Nitto Terra Grappler 265/70/17 all terrain tire. They look a little aggressive yet they are awesome in mud, snow and rain. I would highly recommend them. I have almost 70,000 miles on mine and the last time I had them rotated the guy said I would get another 8,000-10,000 miles out of them. You can also go with the Goodyear Duratrac, BFG AT KO, General Grabber, Falken Rocky Mountain, Toyo Open Country, Cooper Discoverer ST and also the Kelly Safari TSR.

You can also check out Discount Tires for Sale - Tires, Wheels & Accessories | Tread Depot and www.tirerack.com. I purchased mine from Discount Tire and they were awesome in matching prices and also the installation. I highly recommend them also. I do hope this helps you out.
 
Hi, do appreciate your quick response, the tread depot website is new to me and appears to have some pretty damn good pricing. A lot of the tires you listed are high $$ tires, im looking spend around $600 hopefully.

So far for around the prcing im looking at I can get the Falken Rocky Mountains, BFG Rugged Terrain, or Goodyear Wrangler SRA all in a P265-70-17.(Edit: or BFG Long Trail)

should I really be looking for a LT tire?? or is Passenger tire acceptable? I don't haul heavy loads.

Do NOT! get the Falken's, had em, hated them. They aren't siped/cut all the way down to the carcass, so automatically you are cutting your miles down. Go look at them in person!

You can beat this topic too death, but with your price and choices. I would say go with BFG Rugged or the Toyo Open Country ATII. Use google images and see what the tires look like. That will help you alot.

P would be all that you need. Unless you really want LT
 
Thanks for the 1st hand experience Sparky, I was weary of the Falkens also.

The BFGs are available at my local BJ's wholesale club which I belong, so buying them there and getting mounted and balanced would make it really easy also instead of the headache of shipping and then taking to a tire place to be mounted for a ridiculous price cause you didnt buy the tires from them...

Yeah check with them and see how much tires would be and what mounting/balancing would run you. That may be your better option. Do you have any local Discount Tire stores in your area?

Not that I know of. BJs is listing the Rugged Terrain at $156.99 and $15 install per tire.

I'd be around $700 all said and done after tax. I'm thinking not too bad
 
I had the long trails on my truck when I got it. They were new and did ok. Decent off road, quiet on road, seemed to wear well. Not for me tho. I wanted an a/t or m/t.
 
I just got the Cooper Discoverer ATP's from discount and couldn't be happier. Very good looking tire, quiet and thus far excellent traction. I had the Goodyear silent armors in a LT size. The LT tires will be a much rougher ride then a P tire so I would stay away from them + P tires are usually cheaper and I see no need for the LT unless you are going to be off roaring regularly or towing maybe. The ATP's I have are p265/70/17 and I love them so far. I paid 663.40 out the door with the replacement certificates so I would suggest hitting up your local discount to see what you can come up with prior to ordering online.

Also. My brother just got the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 and he is very happy with those as well.
 
hmm Cooper is very nice lookign tire there also. edit: no discount tires anywhere near me though, i just checked :(

Just found out they have a $50 off coupon on BFG tires at BJs also though, think im sold lol

I would at least check out the Cooper AT/3s. My brother runs them on his truck and they're way better than the Nitto Terras that I have. I hate the Terras on both slush/ice off road and in mud.
 
Yep, i had the Rugged Terrains and really liked them. They are very quiet and super smooth riding. I had switched my suspension out and needed a little larger tire. Since i was getting something new i went ahead and go the KO's since they are a little more aggressive looking

Thanks for feedback, If i had them money id get the KO no questions for sure, but the Fiance and I are house shopping at the moment also and trying to save as much as possible for the time being.

Edit: before I have them order them for me for tomorrow: how was the tread life on the rugged terrains when you had them? Im guessing you didnt run them all the way down before upgrading?

I think i had them for about a year and they still looked brand new. i think they have a 50K warranty, so that is a plus.
 
The Nitto Terra Grappler is a solid all around tire. Used them several years ago and just went back them again this time around for AT use since I got rid of my MT's.
 
I think if you got bfg at kos, it would be the last tire you buy in the next 5 years. They will rot before you wear them out. I have customers getting 75k + out of a set. These tires are one of those brands once you get one set you're hooked. I have customers ordering a set for each and every truck they buy.
