Did you have a chance to try out the Duratrac's in varying snow conditions before the melt? I've been seriously considering them and the only thing holding me back is whether or not they'll be good enough in the snow/ice.
I currently run a set of Michelin Alpin's on a spare set of rims in the winter, but they're in need of replacement next year. If I just stick with a Duratrac all year I can justify the price of the tires as I won't have to buy a new winter set in 7 months.
I snowboard a ton, so even though the city streets get clear, I need a kickass winter tire.
I got to drive on them while the residential streets were still snowpacked, and through a couple of early spring storms, and I have to say they were fantastic! Where I used to put the truck in AWD on snow/ice packed, I was able to leave it in 2wd comfortably, and this was when I was still getting used to the truck and driving RHD. I had originally intended to get winter tires as well, but it would be totally unneccesary, these are severe winter rated, and do very nicely in all kinds of winter conditions. I fully endorse the Duratracs as year round, Canadian climate tires.
