need quick answer: do i REALLY NEED shift lever extension for 2" BL?

I just bought my runner in december and i put a 3" BL on just because i cant even really do any wheeling till summer. so when summer comes around ill be getting susp lift. but until then, my truck mainly just sees the parking lot at school. its sad to say but its true.

oh and to help with some more info: no filler neck mods needed, no brake line ext needed, and no transfer case shifter ext needed. it works perfectly fine, just looks kinda funny cause its low in the hole. i kinda like it.

It honestly depends on what your intentions are with the truck and when you want to change out your shocks next. Basically it's going to wear them out faster than with no lift, and you are going to over extend them if you do much offroading. I have had my OME lift on for over a year now with a couple of off-road trips in that time span. As of now I have done no harm to the shocks. I do plan to upgrade the shocks soon, but am not putting a huge hurry on it unless they blow out. What it boiled down to for me was that I was putting the lift on myself and didn't mind doing the work twice eventually. I didn't have money to do the whole kit and just the springs has gotten me by until now, and I can afford the shocks if I need them now.
 
okay....so a 2" BL will be fine with JUST the following?

Lift Blocks, Frong Bumper Brackets, Steering Shaft Extension and Rad Drop Brackets

here's what I got:
Standard 2" Kit
Front Bumper Brackets
Radiator Drop Brackets
Steering Shaft Extension
Instructions (just to be safe, $2 oh well)

2-3 days shipping so I'll have a nice project to do for next weekend!

My intentions are nothing crazy offroad. I would like to be able to fit bigger tires and I'll eventually swap the shocks out when I get the money, but do you have the 2.5" or 3"? I'm anxious to lift it. haha
 
what makes me LOL is that, after 2 pages NOBODY has answered my question directly, and the fact that anything I post seems to go unnoticed because a body/suspension lift fight has broken out in the middle of my thread. Continue your bickering. Thanks for nothing.
 
sorry to get off topic man! I figured since you ordered it, that you got your questions answered. But yes, what you listed above is all you will need.

Just for the record, 96 runners only came with 8 body mounts and will need to weld on 2 more to make a total of 10 body mounts like the rest of the 3rd gens.

Anyone have a fix for the auto shift selector? Not that big of a deal but it would be nice to read "D" when I am in drive and not "N".
 
Just go under the vehicle and loosen the nut that the steering shifter is attached to. It should be under some tension, once you loosen it just tighten it back up wherever it wants to sit. Then it will read D when you are in Drive instead of neutral.
 
I figured it would be something easy like that. As it sits right now It feels like it barely grabs park which is proving difficult for proper key removal when I am ready to exit the vehicle. I'll adjust her up tonight. Sn0 was it you that used pond liner for gap guards? If not what did you do to seal up the gaps?

Overall very happy with the addition to my lift. Now the front actually looks lifted.
 
I am in process in next few days to add my 2" body on to my 3" suspension lift.(98 auto 4x4)
Front tires still scrub in reverse after major BFH work.
"I hate body lifts" have had on 4 different vehicles in past.It makes things easier to work on,and can fit bigger tires but to me changes the whole comfort level in side the vehicle.Past has always been 3" body and now going with a 2" so will see.
When i did my 3" on my 2nd gen I had to extend levers.But i didn't order extensions for this one so soon we shall see.

I can't remember exactly what the material is suppose to be used for. hahaha! Got it at home depot. It's a thick black plastic material. It almost looks like it was meant for wheel wells.
